Picture I have taken a few days ago, because a cable & a satellite providers here in the Philippines are already offering CNN International HD. I still wonder why CNN is already distributing CNNI HD even if their live newscasts are still in SD.

And do I expect a full revamp of CNN International this May?

That's a picture from CNN Domestic I think but there is a HD feed in the clear now on 20w I think.

The show is from CNN Domestic, but the flipper and the "Recorded" bug are from CNNi.

Aah yes they've changed since the last time I saw CNN, it seems to be in pillarbox format now but definitely not HD.

Can someone explain how on Earth this happened? Otherwise, a successful, well deserved night for Channel 4 News among the other winners.

Unbelievable - maybe its all those excellent 'Living Golf' programmes or the many back half hours whilst other networks carry on with breaking news. Shocked

It's always been a weird category. It's a British awards ceremony so inevitably the prize should really go to Sky or the Beeb - as the only domestic producers of 24 hour news. They do seem curiously reluctant to award it to the BBC News Channel (I think they've only ever won it once) but they can't really give it to Sky every year. So we have the peculiar sight of them giving it to these international channels, despite the fact they don't really merit the award.

Personally I'd just scrap this category.

This says more about the quality (or lack of quality) at the BBC and Sky.

I don't think they should scrap the category because both British Domestic channels didn't win... these international news channels are more than welcome to compete in these awards IMO.

I would expect Sky to up its game now... unfortunately theres no hope of that as far as BBC News is concerned.

To be fair, I think the quality of the BBC News Channel is vastly superior to CNN, which is imo the worst of all the news channels on offer at the moment.

Really, you think CNNI is worse than Fox News, RT, Press TV, CCTV News and CNC?

CNNI is probably about as good as BBC News, Sky News and Al Jazeera right now, and maybe a little ahead of EuroNews and France 24, but all of them are way ahead of Fox, RT, Press TV, CCTV and CNC.

If we are talking about their presenters, reporters and crew they are certainly at the same level as BBC & Sky (imo they are better when it comes to presenters) but when it comes to schedule and being a rolling news channel they are far behind. This wasn't the case before 2008/2009 when reduction of live news started.
