Not sure if anyone else noticed but it seemed like Granada Reports fell off air this evening. Just caught the end of the programme but part way through the weather it just cut straight to the Evening News.

Anything done for Hillsborough?

Didn't see it tonight but it appears they were live from the inquest. They have also been quite active on Facebook all day with quite a few live video broadcasts.
I think days like today show how much regional ITV is missed.

There were special titles with various JFT96 images replacing the normal landscape shots, ending with 'Granada Reports Hillsborough Inquests'

The weather presenter on Granada Reports tonight made two references to North Wales. I didn't think Granada Reports covered North Wales anymore. I know it used to. Was it just because of being in the border maybe?

I can't remember the last time Granada covered anywhere in North Wales. It should though because a lot people in North Wales watch Granada either because they have no choice or because they prefer it. Regional editorial areas should have a reasonable overlap. It's mad that Granada doesn't seem to cover areas so near as Queensferry. It does, however, seem that Chester's immediate western suburbs located in Wales like Saltney are still covered, as is Broughton; if the regional webpages are anything to go by.

The weather thing is probably explained by James Wright (i.e. not a Granada regular) doing the forecast, and the template for the Granada forecast still does have symbols over north Wales. That said, it's interesting because Wright is/was an ITV Wales presenter so I'd have thought he'd be the least likely to reference the overlap.
I suspect Welsh Govt/Ofcom have made a fuss over the north not consuming enough Welsh media/politics - the installation at DSO of a Wales-region transmitter on the Wirral, in the line of sight of Winter Hill for some, was a very deliberate act in that regard. But it's a real shame Granada are now more rigid with the editorial boundary as many still watch them and BBC NW - the Welsh services still often seem very south-Wales-centric and that's a long way from up here.
