Yvonne Hall was the Herts correspondent, but they still send her up there if Look East can't send anyone.

Night Thoughts
There's already been some discussion here about how the boundaries of London and the rest of the south-east are somewhat fluid in some viewers'/listeners' minds - and the anomalies of terrestrial coverage - so hopefully I'm not repeating myself on this particular point...

BBC South East did a documentary in 2011 about the influence of Vox amplifiers on the British music scene - Vox Pop: How Dartford Powered The British Beat Boom (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b017zwq8 - you can find it on YouTube too).

But until it got picked up by BBC4, it had only been aired on BBC1 South East - while Dartford itself is, at least for TV, strictly BBC London territory.

I've also seen events such as the Biggin Hill air fair also get more coverage on BBC South East than London, even though Biggin Hill is actually inside Greater London.

I'm not sure how far London Live's coverage goes for satellite and cable viewers - I know some viewers beyond the GL boundary get it on their cable providers, even though it'll never cover where they live.

However BBC London covers an area far larger than London - including lots of home counties areas - not that you'd know by watching the show...

That's also true for ITV London.

There are some home counties within the London region which would probably be better served by neighbouring regions, such as parts of Essex, which could be better served by Anglia/Look East, and parts of Berkshire, which could be better served by Meridian/BBC South.

I used to live in Reading, and parts of it were in the Meridian/BBC South region, and other parts were in the London region.

Reading, (along with the other Thames Valley commuter/London overspill housing towns) used to rely on signals from Crystal Palace, before the Hannington transmitter was built. Remember Crystal Palace (and Croydon for ITV) was the only source of TV in the 1950s and 60s for 405 lines, and from 1964 for BBC 2, so these towns still have a strong legacy of TV 'from London'. Crystal Palace provides a better signal than Hannington in some parts of Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Camberley etc, so that's what many punters still use. As discussed in other recent threads, TV region boundaries for terrestrial are very fuzzy.

By the way, most distant London region transmitter is Bishop Stortford

It appears the Valentines Day proposal will take 30 mins out of the already reduced news time at 6.30pm presented by Hannah Jackson from London Film Club.

30 minutes? At least it'll be a private affair, right? Also, she's quite inauthentic. This could/will be awful.

I live in Surrey, and it's incredibly annoying. Our Ariel is obviously facing Crystal Palace, as a house just down the road gets meridian, but we get London. Very annoying as our local station is meridian. I've tried retuning, but no, just London.

You need to turn ( and quite possibly replace) your aerial in order to receive Meridian area programmes
