The TV guide in the Standard has become particularly unbearable over the last few weeks with endless reviews for LL's shows in the review section. All of them read horribly, there was a particularly dreadful one about how they always rush home to catch the "hilarious" Not the One Show. They'll often review repeats of old comedies as well amongst the shows that actually should be written about.
The Standard's also littered with adverts telling you to watch London Go and NTOS on your commute home. As if anyone would waste bandwidth and battery watching these on their phone.
Agreed. All of the reviews are written by LL staff themselves, rather than Standard reviewers, so they"re hardly impartial - and there hasn't been a single negative review or comment from anyone (even on the letters page) since it started.
Luke Blackall from London Go is the tv reviewer in the Standard these days, alas the biased previews for his own show and Not the One Show.
Going back to Gavin, he's too over enthusiastic on Wake Up London. That style of delivery would be fine if he was presenting the weather segments. Alex Beard and Marc Edwards appear to have got the delivery and pace right for that show.
Incidentally Alex seems to be covering most of the news output in the last week. She presented the 8 Debate last week for Gavin, Wake Up London for two days and Headline London on Wednesday and Friday. She's one of the few people who can actually fit in across the schedule.
This Saturday London Live are doing their first coverage of a major London event - 'Live from Pride' is on 3pm-5pm.
With Alex Beard presenting. Considering LL hyped up the big 5 presenters when they launched, it says a lot when it comes down to a presenter who was originally hired to be a OB video journalist.
Former C4 commissioner Katie Boyd has joined London Live to look for new commissions for factual entertainment and features. She commissioned Location, Location, Location, Embarrassing Bodies and Gok Wan for C4.
