can anyone tell me how the large screens to the left and right (and behind sports) work. are they projected, or are tehy using the same technology that made 'The Word' so great (blue/green screens, then image overlaid??
it doesnt look as though there is room for a projector behind the screen. also no leakage around the side...
There is, they're projected from high up so people walking past don't affect the picture, and on certain very wide shots you can see the projector shining through the set.
on the countdown to the o'clock news, the images are all seeped up. i dont like them. also, the globe with the 24 in it and a summary of the main news around it. dont like that either.

This proves that the see-through effect on the screens that we see on Weekend 24 are not in fact real - just made up images that are projected just as any other image. If they really did turn the images off, we would just have a view to the other side of the glass walls of the set (and the projectors), and the red stripe certainly wouldn't continue down the back of the screen, otherwise the projection wouldn't work.
However, they are most likely "holo-screens" for the projection to be seen from the opposite side that it is projected from.
