Was the warm up man on loads of things. I remember an interview with him in short-lived TV magazine The Box where he talked about having to rugby tackle a streaker to stop them appearing in shot on the lottery. He also said when he warming up Gladiators he always used to run up the travelator, until he fell off it one week.

Yep, I remember Harry Hill would always bound on to set with the words "Pete Waterman, ladies and gentlemen!".

As well as the shiny-floor Saturday night shows he did loads of sitcoms and turned up in an episode of One Foot in the Grave playing the warm-up at a show Victor Meldrew went to see.

He was a proper old-school warm-up, an expert at making the audience feel comfortable. There's plenty of very good stand-ups doing warm-up work these days but it feels like he was the last of his kind.

I quite enjoyed his warm up when I went to see TV Burp. He didn't get the audience standing up and making fools of themselves (like a certain somebody) He kept us entertained with his own style in between takes & breaks which was nice.
