Yep, it thought that, could the smoke be the New look ITV1, because the programme promtoions are the blue wavy lines, similar to the Credits arnt they? and could be the reason why more programmes are getting the Credit titles

The font of the credits vary, and, although I'm not sure, I think the smoke used to form heart shapes, but now doesn't.
i'd rather the show didnt have the endcredits though, they used to only show about 3 names anyway (director, editor ... and someone else) - there's not enough time to add a promo - so what's the point... its not like coronations street - the credits were in central news aston style anyway...
..tut tut, obviously london have decreed that ALL programmes must use the style, how it will attract more viewers god knows?

Central News now uses the ITV1 Generic credits at the end in red
Well it seems that all programs (apart from repeats) have been attacked by the dreaded generic credits. I personally hate them. I think they spoil the programme, because after all the end credits are part of the program.
Including
repeats! Touch of Frost (new ep on Sunday will probably use them too!), Inspector Morse, Darling Buds of May...
Funnily enough, Crossroads uses the generic credits, but it's ITV2 omnibus doesn't.
Has been on, but was dropped mid-run - filler programme I assume. It even had the 1999 endcap instead of the 1991 one.

I feel the adding of generic credits is a lot of hassle for nothing. It doesn't add anything positive to a problem. It looks ****

They'll probably change in summer, when new idents are launched, though.

I have to say, even though you think im crazy i really like ITV1 and its Generic Credits and ITV1 hearts and Carltons Stars, dont ask me why but I do.
You are not alone, GMTV Today, I like all those things too.
BTW which Central News (West/East/South) has been spotted with generic credits, then? And do we know if the other two versions have generic credits too?
Why red, though? CNwest should use blue generic credits, as their studio is completely blue. So should CNeast, even though they also have orange in their studio, the shade of orange is probably too garish for the generic credits. And CNsouth has a very purple look AFAIK, so they should have purple generic credits.

Well, personally putting them on Central News is just going too far.
If I could run ITV1 I'd ban the things, get Crossroads into primetime (it's wasted at 5.30 and would easily get 10m+ viewers at 7/8pm) and ban ITV1 branding on local stuff like idents, promos, endcaps etc, etc.
Oh, and more regional slots and give ITV1 regions the power to do whatever the hell they want except mess about with national news unless it's the overnight stuff.
What do you think?
