Not a duff sketch in sight and all VERY topical! I cant believe the BBC let them broadcast some of the Dirty Den and Hutton Report sketches! lol
The ONLY bad thing I can say was that maybe there were just a few too many idents but thats not really a major niggle with it!
The Michael Parkinson sketch was brilliant as Jon Culshaw had previously 'done' MP on his show on ITV! Where Jon previously 'done' Des Lynam aswell!
Im sure people will try to compare Jon Culshaw's show on ITV1 and Dead Ringers on BBC2 but I think they are both very different programmes.
The Jon Culshaw Programme on ITV1 was not at all topical and relied on the same sketches and jokes week after week and became a bit repetitive - but it was with more attention to detail and makeup. Overall a lot more production and effort seemed to go into the ITV1 programme even though there weren't as many laughs.
WHEREAS Dead Ringers on BBC2 was continuous laughs and used the actual studios (or good mock-ups) to good useage without spending a lot of the budget on huge sets and makeup etc. They didnt need the actors to have huge amounts of makeup to look similar to the people they were mimicing!
Quite interesting set of mock titles used on the Breakfast sketch as well. Does Dead Rigers have a huge budget or something, as they seem to go to great lengths to "re-create" sets and graphics when the real things are (I assume) fairly easy to use (aka breakfast / Parkinson set's)
Deadringers was absolutely hilarious last night. Well done to the team for an excellent show. The Breakfast sketch and the Dido skits really cracked me up. Well done all!
The 'new' Breakfast titles were rather good for a 'let's do a mock-up, but altered' version.
It was a slight shame that Mark Lawson (introducing the Hutton Report sketch) and Andrew Gilligan (in it) looked no different - I'm sure they're not *that* alike in real life.
Btw, I don't think anybody else mentioned that the old 6 logo was on the screen in the Sophie Raworth / Andy 'unfeasibly long arms' Mar sketch.
