Well I watched the first new D&D and it was alright, good to see Batfink again, and the surreal humour is OK (but then as a fan of Mighty Boosh and Green Wing I didn't expect less...) It's not my favourite Saturday show (I saw every episode of Mysti, how sad am I?) and next week MOM has new US comedy (from the makers of the Amanda Show) - Drake and Josh (which AIUI can also be seen on Nickelodeon). So I will probably be back with the Ministry next week... or I might just get some sleep for once!

And to clear up something I said about D&D in another thread: I personally don't mind D&D being shown on 9/11 anniversary, I was pointing out that there may be moaning viewers who felt it inappropriate, I am fine with it myself. I do feel it inappropriate for stuff like Avago, Nation217 etc to continue as normal during major events (eg the siege in Russia) but I appreciate D&D had their place in the schedule (Saturday morning fun for the younger viewer who would be less likely to watch 9/11 coverage) and so I have no problem with their schedule.

I have to be honest, I was waiting all excited (well maybe not!) for the new series of Dick N Dom. I was an avid watcher last series but this series hasn't really grabbed me yet. I stick by for a little while as I dont want to put my hopes on the first one but I kept turning over to MoM all the time.

Bogies was classic but doing it again with a twist might be one thing but all the kids know about it so they will probably just join in ruining the spontanity of it all.

From BBC News
Quote:
TV host rapped for sexual slogan

A host on children's show Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow has been criticised for wearing a T-shirt bearing a sexual innuendo.
Dominic Wood wore a top bearing the phrase "Morning Wood" while presenting the BBC One morning show in March.

The presenter said he wore the shirt because his name was Wood and the show was broadcast in the morning.

But media regulator Ofcom said it was clear the phrase had a sexual meaning that breached programme regulations.

The matter was resolved after the BBC agreed to vet the presenters' clothing before each show, which is aimed at eight to 12-year-olds.

"Producers always do take care but on this one occasion, it slipped through the net," a BBC spokesman said.

Ok, so let me get this straight - they didn't like 'Morning Wood' - but were happy with 'Streak For Peace'? - bearing in mind of the young audience it is aimed at, this is surely promoting running round the streets in the buff!

Can't see how that one was allowed if the BBC were going to watch what they each wear!

I think perhaps you're looking back with a view that's somewhat skeward now you're older.

I hadn't heard that phrase used in that context until I went on a trip to America at age 16. Just because you know what it means now, it doesn't mean you remember when you first heard that phrase...

Personally it's the first time I've heard of the phrase. I don't recall seeing Dom's shirt but I would have assumed it referred to his name. Still I'm suprised that it's taken this long for Dick & Dom to get in trouble with OFCOM.
