Was that the end-of-year credit roll just now? Would have thought they would wait until New Year's Eve to do that.

With a credit to Dame Barbara Windsor at the very end.

Think they did that last year, they do the last episode of the year that’s not actually at New Year.

I'm watching tonight's episode, there seems to be some inconsistencies.

Despite Sonia being burnt out at working on a Covid ward (with no PPE...) Patrick becomes hospitalised and has 4 of his family members waiting in the corridor with no masks on.

If they wanted to be realistic they should've been at home waiting near a phone to do the
'Lucas called him an ambulance'
speech.

Today's Drama episodes are ones I remember from the original broadcast, with Pauline frantically banging on the bus to get away from Willy after he confessed- also the point where I started watching regularly on UK Gold back in 2001. So we're now at the point where I've seen the vast majority of episodes from this point onwards through either the original broadcast or UK Gold, and the Drama run has filled in the episodes from the first 11 years of the show that I hadn't seen before.

quite something to say you’ve seen the entirety of EE now. Maybe you can tell us when the rot set in?! I’d go for 2004ish

I've set 2004-ish as where I'll drop off if Drama gets that far...

Anyone else hear what sounded like the CA's Casio watch beeping the hour during the end credits tonight?

Just played it back and yes you can clearly hear it! Do people still have those watches that “chime” every hour? I had one as a kid and it was forever being confiscated by the teacher who couldn’t stand the various sound effects it made!!

I haven't noticed many of the filming techniques used since Covid on EE recently until tonight when a cafe scene with Billy and his two children showed Perry Fenwick clearly filming his scene using a green screen which didn't disguise well that fact from the chair he was siting on.

I haven’t noticed many of their “clever techniques” either - not even that in cafe scene. There are a few extra props in locations like the cafe and the Minute-Mart (to make fewer customers less obvious, I suppose). Compared to soaps like Corrie and Emmerdale, the social distancing is less obvious, and the cast don’t appear to be in “filming bubbles” which is the case on Neighbours.

Only a couple of times has there been any reference to Covid - Denise asking customers in the salon to sanitise, for example. It’s a bit odd seeing the pub, cafe, etc open but there’s no way they can accurately reflect the current situation with the episodes being filmed a month or more before transmission.
