Quite a few people on here have been saying how good Piers was on GMB this week. I can't stand him but i thought i'd give it a chance, but had to switch off within 10 minutes. His massive ego at that time of the morning made me want to throw up, i suppose he would at any time of day...
Decided to watch on Friday and it wasn't any better. Usually i don't mind Kate but Piers and Kate as a duo was awful. It was all very annyoing to watch.
Also, the fact Piers boasted that ratings were up Year on year with Daybreak but failed to factor in this time last year was easter holidays for DB. If this is their big idea to boost ratings, then they're struggling more than i thought.

I think he offered something completely different. His ego does get annoying and for that reason I don't think I'd enjoy seeing him become permanent however for a week I found it quite different and liked him more than I thought that I would. His interviews specifically the one of gun crime was something that I couldn't any of the GMB team do with such passion.

I wonder if it is to brand the windows in a similar way to the in studio glass doors. It's odd that they frost up the view but leave that strip clear, unless the window view is to change.

There is a box that is not frosted up which is where movement would occur in the view, (buses, cars etc)

That's true. We'll have to wait to see how it displays across the full window.

A source told the Sunday People: “Piers’ stint was seen as testing the water, he passed with flying colours.

"He struck up great chemistry with Susanna and was a shot in the arm for the show.

“There is talk about him landing his own show or even returning to a more permanent role on GMB.”

Piers did keep saying things like "It's my last day.. for now" and "I have a feeling we'll be meeting again" on Friday but I thought that was just typical Morgan bravado-smuggery.

Well he has his own show which usually rates rather well, though is quite dependent on the guest.

If he was to join the breakfast team on a regular basis I think perhaps the best bet would be for a Sunday morning show in the tradition of the old Frost/Alastair Stewart programmes. It would surely be more of an asset to the franchise than Weekend, but would also be a more costly affair. Andrew Marr though shouldn't be alone in setting the Sunday news agenda.

It really doesn't. Lucky to break 2.5m these days.Don't know where this idea it rates well has come from. Apart from a few episodes in the early days like Cheryl Cole's it has been struggling for ages. Presumably why ITV cut the order for it.

The likes of Cameron, Osborne and Miliband are more likely to join Big Brother than agree to appear on a Piers Morgan show. Somebody like Tom Bradby would be a better fit.

Piers Morgan is a big name though. Tom Bradby isn't really.

Loving the fact that that fawning article appeared in the Mirror... a paper that Morgan used to edit, of course. Friday's show may have just nudged ahead of 600,000 but across the week Piers Morgan has not really at all qualified as a "shot in the arm" ratings-wise.

And whilst you may need a 'big name' for a celebrity chat show, you probably don't need one for a weekend politics show. However what you do need is a great guest booker and an interviewer who will generate news lines that get what your guests say on your show picked up by the network news bulletins in the evening.
