As most members of TVF will already know, but "peterkay" clearly won't . . . the original version of L!VETV was a
"cable exclusive" channel back in the 1990's. The version of L!VETV we have now, is currently only available via
digital satellite, but the majority of it's output is archive material from the original channel. L!VETV pay a fee
for their channel space on the satellite, and another fee for the "privilege" of being listed on Sky's EPG.
AFAIK, it is entirely upto the current owners of L!VETV if they want the channel to appear on DTT or cable.
peterkay - sorry to burst your bubble, but the people responsible for DTT (SDN, CCI, 3&4) are more interested in making sure you buy stuff from Ideal World and Sit-Up TV than in general entertainment channels.
BTW your post clearly displays an ignorance of how Freeview works. Go to Digital Spy www.digitalspy.co.uk and learn about freeview before asking useless questions.
There was a BBC2 documentary about the rise and fall of LIVE TV, following Janet Street Porter trying to get the channel started - great documentary. Does anyone know if this is available on video to buy anywhere? I can't see it on the BBC shop site. Thanks.

I know which one you mean, I saw it on UK Horizons when it was still on the air, I cannot remember what the programme was exactly called but I have a funny feeling it might be one of those 'Back to the floor' style programmes, so I'd have a look round UKTV Documentary somewhere, it might get repeated, but you never know.
I do remember they had a book out about it.
I haven't seen L!VE TV on satellite, I used to watch it on Cable and I miss it, can't beat classics as Topless Darts, Tiffany's Big City Tips and the News Bunny. Though towards its end it went utter crap and ditched it's good logo for live: (tv) and lost it really.

It did go rubbish towards the end, you could tell the cash was running out. I'll have a look out for that documentary on UKTV Documentary - from what I remember about it Janet Street Porter's original idea was pretty good, but the technical problems drove it to collapse - well, that and it was a bit too highbrow, if I remember right! I know it definitely didn't have topless darts...
Currently L!VE TV is free on Sky, why can't i pick up L!VE TV on my freeview box? Is there any way of receiving that cool channel on my DVB freeview box?

For the same reaosn I get watch it with my fridge
what an extremely helpful comment. not. and i don't even understand it "for the same reaosn I get watch it with my fridge"
L!VE TV everytime I watch it on Sky, looks utter tripe. It's one of those small satellite channels IMO.
Live! TV makes money for its owners by people having to buy it to shut it down. It was part on the original bundle of cable only channels, subsidised heavily by the then expanding cable industry. NTL bought it to get out of the contarct to pay up a per viewer levy, and shut the channel down.
There was a story around a couple of days ago, that Flextech were aftter buying the current incarnation of Live!, presumably this would be to fold the goodwill into Bravo?
Havn't even seen Live!. Do they still have the News Bunney?

Simple:
You can't watch L!VE TV on Freeview because it doesn't broadcast on Freeview.
