Well, all DOGs should be put down, IMHO.

I doubt Newbury will get a new look as it was recently reported Granada wants to close the Newbury base and move it to Southampton. So a new look will probably happen then.

Asa could you get some pics of Meridian Tonight (I suppose its a bit late for tonight, but tomorrow) and a video of the new titles/music.

Thanks.

I knew about this new look a few weeks ago - I asked about the planned new look which never was, and they said they were getting a new look soon.

That's nice Ben. Almost rates on a par with your post in the 'Tonight on One' thread Smile

And Lee, I'll get some captures up tomorrow. The titles use the same music, but with bits of the Meridian logo coming in and out of focus and zooming around [sadly in one colour Sad] and then bits of it make up the headlines. You'll see what I mean on the caps.

Cheers, Asa

Yep - I heard similar rumours. Pity... but Southampton have lots of mainly empty studio space.

It would make more sense to merge Central South Abingdon, and Meridian Newbury, to form a larger Thames Valley news region... However since one is Carlton and the other GMG I don't see this happening.

Similarly it has always struck me that it would make sense to merge BBC broadcasts from Hannington and Oxford - enlarging the BBC Oxford region to be a BBC Thames Valley, and splitting entirely from South Today.

The Meridian logo was always brilliant when it was first launched, now it's hardly visible on the Hearts and I like it being a DOG on the news as u don't get to see it much.

Oh dear !  Is that DOG in the bottm left a new addition to the programme - how long has it been there ?

Just a thought - I think the DOG may change to non-semi transparent - I'm sure it wasn't in old-style maidstone was it?

I can remember the first Dog - it was larger (roughly the size on promotions) then in southampton when they shrunk it it wasn't inline with the aston. It was also spotted non-transparent with a thick black line around it once.

Very purple... *gulp*

They look great, glad to see they've kept the music.

I'm not convinced about the studio, I get the impression that it's a bit empty. There seems to be very little there and it looks quite cold.

Glad to see they are using the logo a bit more, it's always been underused.

Very nice, more purple than blue and purple, it means the other colours go better - I'm looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. It's good to see the meridian logo looking 3d.

That edit inspires me to remix the tune.
