Updates to Sky's EPG have begun. The 'Home Page' has changed:

But the sub-pages seem to have dual branding, and no Cinema logo yet:

I hope that someone will post the ident(s) :`P (thanks a lot).. I suppose they'll be even less "themed" than the current ones?

BTW Sky Cinema Disney will retain its "separate" logo, and probably its separate identity too

Well, nevermind, we have the 6am start-up Very Happy

(from a YouTube user)

Again, I suppose that's the ident which is aired on all the Sky Cinema's bar (I suppose) Sky Cinema Disney

I imagined we would have got something more "basic" compared to the previous look, and I was right.. the music reminds me of the one used on a few Sky Cinema Italy idents a bit

I suppose that will probably mean Sky Cinema Italy will say goodbye to the highly themed idents they have now, once they'll rebrand.. hopefully they'll also rename "Sky Cinema 1", which doesn't make sense after they renamed Sky Cinema 2 (a +1 timeshift of Sky Cinema 1) and Sky Cinema 3 (> Hits), really

I hope the abolishing of the HD fee goes for VM too.

I find it quite strange they're dropping the name considering they've had it for over 25 years. It's like Sky Sports rebranding to Sky Physical Activities. Maybe just associate the name Sky Cinema too much with old black and white films but it doesn't sound very "fresh".
.

Sky Cinema is the European brand, 'Movies' isn't a recognised term in Italy or Germany, so they want a common name/idents for their channels.

It no longer seems a requirement to name the legal name of the company for Film Certification purposes. They simply name themselves as 'Sky', rather than 'Sky UK Ltd'.

Yeah, although I doubt they would want to bring "Sky Sports" in Germany and Italy (especially as this one has rebranded recently) or "Sky Sport" to the UK and so on, with Sky1/Sky Uno (although we may see the "Sky1" logo being adopted in Italy)

But I suppose they felt that Sky Movies > Sky Cinema was much simpler to do..
BTW I'm glad they got rid of the "fuchsia" logo, regardless of the name; in some contexts it just looked a bit tacky.. one could say however that the red now is being overused in their set of channels though: but still, there are clear differences among Sky News, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema

Was that ever a requirement? I always presumed Sky did it in a slightly pompous way to mimic the BBFC slides you see in the cinema?

I remember the old 90s ones with the full British Sky Broadcasting name on them.

TV listings section on Sky's website still shows the old Sky Movies logo and channel names.

Can't imagine it ever was, it was just Sky self-certifying wasn't it? I've seen no other TV channel (even other Sky channels!) do it in that particular manner, though RTE do show (again, self-certified) ratings for some programmes in the top left hand corner, themselves inspired by the US system which some may be familiar with.

Idents are alright. The on-screen presentation seems a bit slicker. Have any of the channels changed names on the EPG? What are they now?

RTÉ rate every programme though, not just films, and it is a slide under the DOG rather than an actual screen warning the viewer. Considering there is no way to implement a block for their rating system on any STB, their own rating system is pretty pointless.

I like the new ident.

Idents are pretty damn good. One of the better attempts they've made over the last few years compared to just fading a logo up over some footage. I've just never considered the white backdrops to be "premium" or special, if you know what I mean, when it's supposed to be a premium service. And I suppose the choir (is that the right name to call it?) is a little cliche, but it's still really nice.

Isn't there a clip from 1990 or so where they announced they were "teaming up" with the BBFC to provide certification for each film?
