International News Presentation: Past and Present

RTÉ have 'news2day' which is currently having a summer break.

As far as I know, France Télévisions don't have a children's news bulletin. They don't have a kids channel, but they have a kids strand called Zouzous on France 4 and 5 which could be slotted into one of those slots.

RTV Slovenija also has a kids' newscast. Titled Infodrom, it was originally a daily program, but it was recently cut down to a weekly schedule after audience research showed it had more viewers in the 55+ age range than among kids.

ORF's MiniZiB, was one of the oldest such programs in continental Europe. Perhaps unusually, it was initially anchored by the same people who read the adult versions of ZiB (Zeit im Bild). Here's a relatively grown-up-looking edition from 1985:

Kudos to you for sharing the first two videos. Interestingly the first report on the second video has how the anchors of NHK react to an earthquake. The ORF anchor made reference to the earthquake in Mexico which happened earlier in September, although the video title did not mention the specific date this was recorded. The narrator in the report said it happened at 9:30 pm local time. It was the program News Center 9. It's long before the Earthquake Early Warning was introduced.

France Télévisions has two sorts of kids slots: Zouzous on France 5 and France 4, targeting roughly the same audience as CBeebies; and Ludo on France 3 and France 4, targeting roughly the same audience as CBBC.

France 3 used to air newscasts aimed at children: À toi l'actu@ ("To you, the news") from 2000 to 2002, and Mon Kanar ("My Duk", intentional typo included; duck is french slang for newspaper) from 2002 to 2005.

LCI, a French news channel owned by TF1, used to air Le Petit JT ("The Small Newscast") weekly, for quite a short time; I think the programme stopped airing in 2016.



I think the only newscast aimed at children still aired on French television is Arte's Journal Junior . A quite good program in my opinion: it manages to be a serious newscast while still being accessible to children.

And adding to the list of countries that produce a newscast for children: Serbia's RTS/РТС with the Mali Dnevnik/Мали дневник . Interesting variation of the grownup's news musical theme. I don't know if the show is web-only or not, though.

Thanks for the reminder about Le Petit JT on LCI. A shame LCI axed that segment, but it appears the show was sponsored? I also forgotten about Ludo as well.

Considering France Télevisions have Franceinfo, they should be able to produce at least a weekend children's bulletin to show as filler as LCI did with Le Petit JT.

Well, there is also a Chinese version. CCTV14, or CCTV Children Channel, airs Xinwen Daidaiku (新闻袋袋裤), a 15-minute newscast for children every day at 1700BST.

Previous open format used for years

Last year, Grupo RBS's operations in Santa Catarina (including the Globo affiliates in the state) were sold to Grupo NC, owner of major pharmaceutical companies in Brazil.
This meant they had to be rebranded (especially because Grupo RBS retains the operations in their home state of Rio Grande do Sul). Last April, there was a week-long vote for the new name of the operation, between three shortlisted names. "NSC", for "Nossa Santa Catarina" ("Our Santa Catarina", in Portuguese), was the winner.


And last Tuesday night, the relaunch happened. Grupo NC's newly-formed media arm became NSC Comunicação and the television stations, NSC TV .


The on-air look of their morning and midday newscasts, Bom Dia Santa Catarina and the Santa Catarina edition of Jornal do Almoço , respectively, remained unchanged from their RBS days (also, the Jornal do Almoço name is licensed from RBS), but since RBS Notícias (their evening newscast) had to change its name in Santa Catarina, they took this as an opportunity for a full relaunch of the bulletin.
