This is just the resurrection. ITV already did The Second Coming, in what was also some of most surprising and brave commissioning of the time...

Some filming in the Manchester Sea Life centre tonight with loads of "Weatherfield Marine Centre" signs plastered all over the place (because we know a small place like Weatherfield would have such a big, professional aquarium!)
No paid product placement from Merlin Entertainments, then!

"Jude, your break finished 6 minutes ago. We need you back doing the job that you do which I shall now remind you of in some detail, which is nowhere near as good as the job everyone thinks you're doing."
Great bit of writing there, worthy of Basil Exposition himself.

Given Weatherfield is generally considered to be based on Salford, it’s probably not a massive stretch of believability that it could have its own aquarium. Weatherfield even has its own large-scale national media production complex these days, just a few hundred metres away from Coronation Street.

That's where they film Florizel Street, isn't it?

Reminds me of one episode of Emmerdale where we saw the listings in a TV Guide- on ITV at 19:00 was "Castle Bridge"!

I'm up to the point on the Network DVDs where the Cadbury's sponsorship had started, and the abrupt cuts on the part one/two captions and to the endcap make it quite obvious the sponsorship bumpers are on the master tapes themselves and they've been cut out. I think these days they're played in separately?
SC
I’m pretty sure they’ve been played in live since almost the start. The episode on 31st August 1997 (the day of Diana’s death) went out without sponsors, and looked quite clean - although Granada/ITV may have had access to a clean copy to play out that day.
Emmerdale used to have different sponsors in different ITV regions so they were always played in live, as far as I know. Julian Simmons made reference in a behind-the-scenes clip to the fact UTV used to play the Emmerdale sponsor stings out locally.

Up until 2005-ish the vast majority of sponsorship was edited onto programmes. The change gave more flexibility to change the bumpers used, pull them quickly and sell sponsorship much later in the process than had been done previously.
A bit of a giveaway is that it used to be quite normal to see the closing sponsorship bumper, following by the production caption!
