When this thread first started, someone posted there was a point where the penultimate shot on the opening titles got some tape damage, which slowly got worse until they froze the picture on that shot. Looks like ITV3 have reached that point- the last few episodes have had noticable picture dropouts on that shot. Not got the picture freeze yet though.

Don't forget Brian Capron appeared in the very first ITV3 episode- as Jenny's social worker!

In todays ITV3 episodes we saw the bedroom in the Corner Shop flat. I could be wrong but is this the first/only time this was seen?
Before the shop was refurbished in 1985 the layout was quite clear. The main shop was a lot smaller and the back room was a proper living area which included a living room and small kitchen at the back and the stairs were in a different place. There was a side door but it went straight into the living room downstairs. Upstairs was a bedsit that was rented out to Gail and Tricia in the mid 1970s and then Bet Lynch late 70s-Mid 80s among others. There was also a bedroom and bathroom upstairs separate to the bedsit. After 1985 the layout of the shop flat is more confusing. it looks like the flat that was rented out to Kevin and Sally and later Shirley and Curly was what used to be the bedsit which included the small kitchen at the back. After 1985 there was a separate stairs from an outside door on viaduct street up to the flat. However often Kevin/Sally, Curly/Shirley and Alf/Audrey have gone up to the shop flat via the shop. Im also sure that in current Corrie the shop flat is completely separate to the shop itself and you have to go outside to the side door to get to the flat.

The layout of the old Kabin and Café flats on Rosamund St isn't that clear either. I dont think there is a side exit to the Kabin flat. Mavis always went through the shop. Same for the café flat, which I dont think we have seen yet on the ITV3 repeats. When Raquel followed Des to the Café flat late one night in 1994 ish there was a separate door at the side.

Well I've been watching the Network DVDs (at 2008 now- nearly finished) and in some 90s episodes, we see the flat when Sally was living there- and somehow the door to the bedroom is where the window is in the 1989 episodes. It's hard to get any logic with that flat, especially as it now seems to be about 3 times that size with Adam and Daniel living there.

Don't look at any logic into the old cafe either. Whenever there was location work of the outside, the entrance was always via a door on the front, even though the interior set showed it was actually on the side in an alley shared with the original Kabin. And in said 1994 episode where Raquel goes down the side to get into the flat she should be walking into said alley (which ends in a brick wall) but instead you just see the entire side of the building- no alley, no Kabin (or whatever was meant to be in the former Kabin in 1994 anyway).

I have to laugh on the thread on this topic on Digitalspy sometimes. Someone posted that they hope the repeats continue into the 90s, which somehow was interpreted by some people as there being "rumours" ITV3 were ending the run and led to someone emailing ITV to be sure that wasn't happening. I'm not sure how one person saying they hope the run's continuing somehow turns into there being rumours of them being axed, but then the internet these days makes little sense.

After watching todays first Classic Corrie episode im even more confused about the shop flat. I always thought the stairs went straight up to the flat but it appears you go around the corner before you get to the inside front door to the flat. It also appears all 4 walls have a window, impossible as one wall is next to number 13?? I guess its just like the Rovers and doesnt exactly fit to what we see outside.

Both Alf and Emily went outside into the street before going to the flat from the shop, other times people have gone up to the flat from the store room, unless they are really going out the back way and around to the side which I doubt. We also saw outside of the Kabin today. The area outside looks totally different to how I imagined. And we saw Bettabuys for the first time.

As well as discussing classic episodes on DS, there is a lot of moaning about this weeks current Corrie. I quite enjoyed the Rosemary storyline, mainly thanks to characters like Roy and Audrey being involved. I also didn't mind the Rosie and Gemma storyline this week. Corrie cant win, people complain its dark and depressing, then there are a few lighter comedy storys and that isn't right either!

I think the problem there is they don't mix the light with the dark so well these days. Corrie's always had moments like this week, but prior to this it's been full on dark and this week is full on slapstick, so it's a bit jarring.

I agree and perhaps 3 lighter storylines all in the same episodes were too much, however after so many dark storylines recently I welcomed some lighter episodes. The comedy also didn't seem forced or cringeworthy compared to some other attempts at comedy in recent years. Even the stuff with Kirk was quite amusing to watch, ive seen a lot worse.

The endless moaning about current corrie in the classic corrie thread, especially when someone says "if this was happening today *insert implausable overblown situation here*" gets a bit tiring after a while.

Technically what we saw today wasn't Bettabuys, though it was shot in the same branch of Morrisons they would start using for Bettabuys a few months later. I guess you could use the logic that it was Bettabuys though even though the writers probably hadn't divised it at that point.

The outside of the Kabin was one of only two times it was ever shown (the other was in 1983). We saw the outside of Jim's Cafe several times, but we never saw the Kabin next to it even though it was meant to be next door.

Funnily enough the supermarket and outside of the Kabin scenes are something I remember from when Granada Plus showed this episode. According to Corriepedia that was way back in December 2001- ouch!
