Hollyoaks - On the Pull & Mr C returns

Firstly, Hollyoaks are going On the Pull again in a search for new actors to join the soap this year. To apply, see hollyoaks.com/onthepull.

They did this in 2000 with open auditions and got Ben, Izzy, Theo and Laura. Most of them survived 2 yrs, but only Ben remains now.

Secondly, the ghost of Mr C is about to return - and the style of programme Hollyoaks is, I think they'll pull it off:

The Grim Reaper has culled a generous harvest from the ranks of Chester’s finest, but you ought to have learned by now that not even a coffin can prevent a character returning to Hollyoaks Village.

So it’s with great excitement that we can confirm the return of none other than Mr C - in soul, if not in body.

Idol
Few missed Mr C after his car crash and subsequent heart failure quite so much as Bombhead. A huge chunk of his life had been wiped out, and his entire landscape changed.

Desperately wishing things could return to how they once were, Bombhead discover his imagination is now able to conjure up a walking talking Mr C. Well, he’s always been one for a bit of idle - not to say idol - magic.

Glued
Trouble is, once he’s wished Mr C into existence Bombhead doesn’t want him to go ahead and disappear again. Quite the reverse: he’s got his best friend back, and is determined not to let anything or anybody else interfere.

Stay glued to HOLLYOAKS this month for a visitation from the other side - and we’re not talking about an ITV continuity announcer.

I was very worried we'd have a Ghost of Dirty Den-type storyline there... sounds more like a nod to Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) though Smile

It's a shame Mr C was killed off in the first place, he was a legend.

What about Izzy?
Can't believe Mr C's coming back, it was a big mistake to ever let him go, I don't know if that kind of light hearted thing would work on Hollyoaks.

Izzy (Elize du Toit) left Hollyoaks earlier this year after she lost her and Ben's baby in an ecoptic pregnancy and found she couldn't have children after needing an emergency operation.

Oh of course, silly me, Izzy was a good character. Does this latest talent scout give the winners 2 year contracts and they are renewed if they are good?

Could anyone remind me who Laura was?

Also what happened to the characters and actors who played Matt and was it James or could be Jamie?

Laura came in as the quiet student from Northern Ireland who turned into a psycho lesbian who tried to kill Mandy.


Jamie was killed off in the hiking/mini-bus accident, while Matt was imprisoned for a forgery scam at The Loft on the eve of his wedding to Chloe, but he made an apperance in Hollyoaks: After Hours driving a boat across the Mersey, so could possibly return.

When Ben & Izzy first started they were absolutely terrible, the most wooden actors on the telly. However to be fair they both got better quite quickly, and Ben was, and still is, a good likeable character; the latter being something rather rare in Hollyoaks nowadays!

Izzy certainly improved in the acting department, however in the later months, especially after she married Ben, she became a terribly irritating character. They either had to change her or get rid of her. I'm afraid to say I'm not sorry they went for the latter approach!!

Hollyoaks always suffered from the problem of dragging out storylines (think of the whole Dan/Toby/Ellie saga) but over recent years a bigger problem has been their lack of likable characters. Most people are either barstards or bitches!!

Why do people think the Dan/Toby/Ellie story was dragged out? Are you people from the EastEnders world where characters murder, are arrested, imprisoned and realeased on appeal all within one week.

In reality these things take months - the serial killer storyline had a good build up, and considering the death of Toby only happened in November, eight months later Dans been imprisoned, tried and released, while Ellie faces court next week.

PS: Matt/Jamie - As for the actors, no idea I'm afraid.

The trouble with the Ellie storyline is that they have kept repeating the same scene over and over with Lisa saying 'We hate you' while Ellie looks on, chasened. That's why it has seemed so long.
