Well I reckon it's a Welsh thing, being all traditional and backwards -- they're all at it. Tara Eugene, Ruth Dodsworth, Jayne Davies ages ago. I'd have thought keeping your name would make more sense, since that's the name you've built your career on.
And on top of that, the three I've mentioned seem to have made their names worse too.

In Tara's case I have a feeling it was divorce that resulted in the name change, not marriage - in which case you can understand it, and Jayne has built her career on her current name.
One that I realised just this morning (how's that for timing, eh?)
If Holly Willoughby (M.O.M.) married Dominic Wood (Dick & Dom In da Bungalow) she'd be...
Holly Wood!
I watched a bit of price-drop.tv earlier and Cheryl Baker was on and on the yellow ticker where it shows you the people who are already in the price-drop the name "Rita" had came along and Cheryl said that she changed her name from "Rita whoever" to "Cheryl Baker".
That confused me a bit because i didnt know if she was being serious or if she was joking. Can anyone fill me in?

She's always going on about Rita from Sevenoaks, because if you ever see that there it's actually her buying stuff. Alot of people use stage names or change there names, hers used to be Rita Crudgington I think.
If Carol Vorderman changed her name to her current marriage she would now be Carol King. Perhaps she doesn't want to be mixed up with a successful 70's singer / songwriter!
