Is the BBC not able to show a recording of the bulletin that went out to the viewers in England and Wales and show this, or is there some clause somewhere that states the BBC must show live bulletins? Surely it would be much easier and create a better flow on the BBC News Channel?
There would be an outcry if some scottish viewers found they'd gotten a recorded bulletin while england got a live one.
I get the feeling the BBC don't want to ruffle too many feathers, just in case they inadvertantly end up having to produce scottish versions of all bulletins, all the time ("if they don't have the studio space in London to do it, then they should open a studio up here to do it").
The News Channel looks really tired with its rather bland graphics.
They need a bit of a change - go radical BBC!
The graphics aren't too bad - they're not as good as the ones they replaced in my opinion, but they do the job afterall.
Wasn't the whole purpose of the rebrand last year to simplify everything? The music beds have been stripped right down and the graphics appear to have been too, perhaps as a result of some kind of marketing survey that broadcasters usually carry out before relaunching to establish what the target market like and dislike about the current branding.

When they first launched I did think the graphics appeared rather 'tame' in comparison to what they had before. However IMO they've since proven to be probably the best graphics they've ever had.
They somehow manage to come across classic in their design. They might look simple, but they have some lovely little features like the Breaking News pulses and the way they animate. Which is exactly the sort of graphics package BBC News should have, I reckon. Simple but stylish. Leave the glassy bevels and flashy spinny effects to Sky News.

didn't central get in trouble for recording a bulletin a few years back?
Strange that the 1100 - 1400 shift was done by a single presenter today. Tight studio camera angles used throughout (Well so far) too.
I didn't notice this when I dipped into BBC NC earlier: perhaps they were doing statutory electrical tests on the Barco screens
(don't tell Worzel)
or other electrical equipment which required the 'tight camera angles' to avoid getting other people in shot.
It's the sort of thing that has to be done; either way, I doubt many people noticed.
