Just as ive given Carlton a bit of praise in other threads about leaving the HTV brand alone - theyve gone against everthing i had said!

The last few breaks on HTV now feature the generic ITV1 break bumper rather than the HTV version!

Little by little they are nibbling away at the regional identity!

Dont think we havent noticed!

I don't think it really matters, but what I don't get is - WHY?

It's not as if it makes it easier (like the ITV1 promos) because the break bumpers played out are used only on HTV!

Hoorah!

The less HTV branding the better. It's a stupid name for a TV company. I'd much rather have full Carlton branding, and I'd get rid of that awful welsh announcer on HTV.

Whereas Carlton is a great name for a Welsh broadcaster!?!

Good job you're not in charge!  You are in the minority, as research proves that HTV is the second best known brand in Wales!

so you would prefer all station to be called carlton rather than anything that distinguises it apart from other itv1 channels?

i would rather itv1 wales than carlton wales!

I never really thought small minded welsh nationalists existed, until they all invaded TV Forum! Very Happy

HTV is a crap name for a TV company, and apparantly the 'H' dosen't stand for anything anymore!

Personally I find most welsh people arrogant, petty, and prejudice.

Yes, I think ITV1 will be the name if HTV eventually rebrands.

dont even go there!

i think the best idea would be to rebrand the whole of itv1 as htv - now that would work a treat:-

Good evening your watching htv south and now the htv lunchtime news!

cool!

Jamez - don't try to be contraversial for God's sake, at least think of something interesting to be funny about.

Incidentally, how can the H not stand for anything anymore ? It stands for (Lord) Harlech. Although HTV doesn't have anything to do with the Harlechs anymore, it doesn't mean the H has suddenly become meaningless.

Bearing in mind nearly everyone living in wales on tv forum has participated in this thread, i thought i would join in too!

HTV is a brilliant regional broadcaster, carlton branded channels aren't, simple as that. and i don't think that the people of wales would ever stand for regional programmes of the quality of carlton westcountry for example.

Don't get me wrong, I love the carlton presentation and the way they have intertgrated it into HTV, and since it was bought by carlton the general presentation of the channel has looked far more professional, but i would severely protest if I was ever watching Carlton for the west and welsh regions.

About the breakbumper though don't really care, in fact I have been expecting it for sometime.

And James, if welsh people are arrogant, petty and prejudice then just call me mr. arrogant.
BTW, james where were you born again? Very Happy

Oh, what's this!? Another quality contradiction brought to you by Jamez.

IIRC, when Carlton aqquired HTV, you couldn't stop moaning about how poor it was, and how they'd taken away the true identity of the station. Hmmmm, yes - makes sense (!)

If you insist on trying to be controversial, do try and be consistent Jamez.
