Did your region show one of them ITC Complaint things after 'Tonight With Trevor McDonald' tonight?

Was it voiced locally in your region?

On Yorkshire, it was the trailer man who did the very very long announcement, He didn't seem to be suited to this type of straight reading.

Its usually Maggie Mash who does these, and she IS suited to this sort of thing (If you've heard her MP3 you'll know shes good at reading long boring stuff!)

Thankfully, it wasn't Bob Preedy, or he would have taken the whole commercial break up!!!

Carlton Central and Carlton London did, so I presume network ITV did.

Couldn't tell you the announcer though, I had the sound muted.

i thought it was a BSC complaint broadcast - i didnt watch Tonght, but i caught sight of the tv when the 'complaint thing' was on, and im almost sure it was the Broadcasting Standards Commision (who regulate taste/decency etc. on ALL channels, including the BBC) rather than the ITC... although ill stand corrected if someone says it was definately the ITC

it wasnt a central announcer doing the V/O, so i presumed it was a granada (gmg>ytv) announcer doing it - as granada produce tonight - but i suppose it could have been a carlton london BOOMING voice

It was BSC. You can get the full adjudication here

Yeah it was a BSC announcement, and it was the GMG 'I do all the northern trailers' voice-over blokey who, er, voice-overed it.

And it was networked -- I caught it after UTV showed the Tonight programme at 11.00 tonight -- and UTV cut the end off, tut tut!!

I've got one of these (And a BBC one) on tape from 2000,the BBC one recorded 5 minutes after the ITV1 one.

I saw the complaint earlier in the day. It was published on a small ad in the Daily Mail on Thursday! Something about the portrayal of a pharmacy I think!

And Ive got one on tape from last year, showing the ITC apology for the Brass Eye Special.

the funniest appology ive seen was from channel 4 - shown before peter kay's pheonix nights -> as he had a charector called kieth lard who was a fire safety officer in bolton, who had an unhealthy intrest in dogs ... mr kieth laird, the real fire safety officer in bolton wasnt best pleased

Yes, UTV are terrible aren't they? They have this nasty habit of taping the shows off LNN and playing them out in graveyard slots, butchering the credits in the process.

Club Reps, Night and Day etc. all get a graveyard airing.

And they don't even show the teatime Crossroads!

And when they moved that to 1PM they made a right mess of the ECP!

Sorry, but UTV do have good regionalism but I think that they should separate from ITV1, buy any programmes they want to show direct from the producers but apart from that, be left to do their own thing.

Rant over.

No I disagree actually, I think UTV does a fine job and I've said it before. Why shouldn't rubbish like Club Reps and repeats of daytime soaps be moved to the wee small hours where they belong?

Just think it was a little bit unprofessional to cut off a complaint judgement of all things.....

That said, I think the station is run automatically at that time of night so although it's no excuse, it's understandable.

Yeah, maybe, but I still feel they should sperate from ITV and do something like S4C in Wales. Basically, do their own thing, buy any network shows they want to show direct from the producers, and not have to go by the ITV Network Centre rules (ie have to show ITV News etc.) and have their own national and international news as I doubt very much that what goes on in England bothers NI viewers much.
