CNN International & Domestic

The music isn't TOO bad, but those titles are truly horrific. CNN's graphics are stepping in the complete wrong direction!

Those are horrific.

Just terrible! Like a cross between fake news graphics from a film and ESPN Sports Center.

It's surprising because in my opinion, the overall look and presentation on CNN Domestic is far better than CNN International these days. The program graphics for Early Start, Starting Point, the Situation Room, Piers Morgan, and AC360º (all of which have been rebranded relatively recently) all look pretty nice (at least for a domestic channel; I'd expect more overseas). I was just surprised that they went for something so garish looking for Newsroom because CNN Domestic has hardly ever gone *that* cartoonish.

Here are the Early Start graphics by comparison:

^ Good point, other shows have a more clean and decent look, certainly better than most of CNNI's mess but these latest Newsroom graphics look even worse than CNNI, in fact it looks a lot like World Sport.

Previous Newsroom looks was very good IMO, simple, clean and to the point. I wouldn't mind CNNI using that now.

Manisha Tank presented from London today, for the first time ever. She usually used as a substitute anchor in HK.

Great to see Fionualla Sweeney doing the iDesk today. She is one of my favorite news anchors ever.

Also, has anyone seen the wrapper that is on the end of some CNNI programmes these days? It almost crashes into the middle of the end titles with its own abrupt music and we are treated to a little montage of various CNNI anchors and brands with the tag line: the number one name in news.

Nina dos Santos doesn't quite have the Quest "walk-on stride" needed for the rampant start up on QMB.

One cannot be hunched over like Dot Cotton when entering the arena on behalf of the great RQ on his day off!

Anyway........Is Piers Morgan still on?

Yep. He comes on CNN International three times a day still, 2am, Midday and 11pm. Asian viewers get out of the 11pm one and get an extra live news bulletin - it's so disheartening to hear "Now, World Report for our viewers in Asia - for everyone else it's a [21-hour old replay of] Piers Morgan...."

I see Hala is still doing DC IDesk from that broom cupboard. As expected the fancy new DC set is only made for Wolf and domestic audience.

Perhaps they don't want to use it while it's slathered in stars, stripes and other O.T.T. election branding?

CNN Newsroom is a new morning show from Hong Kong, replacing 2 hours of World Report there. Promo looks promising.
