Does every other region get a 'throw a six to start' weather forecaster at the weekend? I'm sure I've seen three separate unknowns on South East Today over the last couple of days.

NWT pretty much always gets the God-awful Eno.

Ooh La La!

We have a new weatherman on BBC World.

Ooh La La. That's all I'm a saying.

You've probably been getting the BBC Weather Centre producers such as Kawser Quamer and Jennifer Bartram. Kawser has been covering BBC Scotland breakfast bulletins all week.

That's him, yes.

Will there be a change in Weather Graphics when it moves to BH as the current set will have been in almost 8 years when NC moves in?

Hmm, it could go either way. They don't look that bad, IMO, so I reckon they could be around a bit longer, and they certainly aren't as old as ITV's, which have been the same since 2002 or something, haven't they? And, as the brief at NBH seems to be an evolution, not a revolution, I'd say they'll probably stay. However, there's always a chance.

More like 2005, they still had the GMG/Carlton regions graphics before the change.

Was it only 2005? God, I thought it was a few years longer.... But then again, the number of different logos I've seen on the ITV Weather graphics over the years probably distorts my age estimation!

I've had sight of a rehearsal where they were using the same graphics, but that's not to say it'll be the same when they move.

Nice to see the animated BBC blocks on BBC One HD in place of the weather tonight.

When people look back at the 80s & 90s are compare to now, mostly you see things that have been reduced/cut back/no regionalism etc.

But one thing that the regions took a long time to get going was weather. Many ITV regions were still using forecasts read out by the continuity announcer outside of the main programme into the early/mid 90s. Granada had no weather presenter for years.

On the BBC, the regions were using forecasts read out by the newsreader at various times particularly at weekends until not that long ago.

It's quite unusual that with all the cut backs on both BBC & ITV, weather is one area that is better now than in the regional heydays and there is great importance that all forecasts must be done properly by a presenter in front of a map.
