I tried to play those audio clips when I went looking at that page after that video clip was uploaded, but they were practically unplayable with some unusual jumping and skipping. Clearly it was a problem with the format they were in. Thank you for uploading them this way.

I had to use VLC player to convert them, and had to re-convert them a couple of times because as you say they sometimes play with weird jumps and cuts. One of the files has a weird noise at the beginning which I presume is the tape starting or something.

I'm glad you're able to now enjoy them Smile

Check out the GB Gameshows channel - they've finished the 3-2-1 collection, but look at the gems they've uncovered over the past few days...

Now this is interesting. Someone had a VCR that could record the audio output from FM and overlay it on top of a TV video recording. Which would probably have been an utterly pointless feature if it wasn't for the Top of the Pops stereo Radio 1/BBC1 simulcasts:

This user has uploaded a number of performances with the FM simulcast in glorious stereo if you're interested, and also quite a lot of interesting continuity clips that I'm going to start making my way through now...

Not that I have a VCR any more, but I had one that could do that - and indeed I still have some late 90s Eurovision VHSs with Ken Bruce from Radio 2 instead of Wogan - far more watchable!

The full, clean 1991 Childrens BBC idents with the original music (and in much better quality that the ones uploaded on MHP Private Parts). As you can see, these particular ones were geared towards the european version of BBC World Service TV.

Some of my uploads:

Believed to have been early "BBC World News" titles dating back to the days of "BBC World Service Television" - these were found on a 1 inch video tape and are believed to be taken from a master copy.

An obscure documentary set in Little Stonham in 1872. Produced by BBC Norwich in 1976.

My guess is that this feature was designed for countries in which an alternative audio track was transmitted via FM. Here's an example from Timothy Green's 1972 book The Universal Eye: World Television in the Seventies :

"In Bangkok you can watch Bonanza, Mission Impossible or Peyton Place with live dubbing into Thai as the story unfolds (or turn down the sound on TV and hear the English soundtrack on FM radio.)"

In this case, the FM audio feature would have been useful for someone who wanted to record the program with its original soundtrack, rather than the Thai dubbing.

This is a great find, but if the year (1987) is correct, it couldn't have been from BBC World Service Television, because WST didn't launch until 1991. Could it have aired on BBC Europe (a predecessor to WST about which relatively little is known)?
