Why do they put (seven) in? Are people really that easily confused between a 1 and a 7?
No, it was so people didn't think it was mistake on the vidiprinter. It was referenced during the game by Steve Wilson which I guess gave them the idea.

There's almost certainly a Press Association style guide somewhere which says that if a score is above a certain number, it should be spelt out to prove that it's not a typo. (Anyone know what the number is?)
Haven't seen much of ITV in this World Cup. They've got the deck chairs out and are broadcasting down by the beach probably underneath their studios. Is this a first or have they done it for previous matches? Personally I prefer it to being in studio.

They started doing it for some of their 5pm games in the group stages. Since the knock out stages begun they've done it for pretty much all their games even the 9pm games like tonight. They only do pre-match outside, back in the studio at half time.

I've enjoyed ITV's presentation of the World Cup this time, the theme music is widely regarded as being the better of the two, and all the break stings, incidental music etc have worked well, giving it a Brazilian feel.
I always prefer on screen graphics to be bespoke to the tournament, rather than a normal corporate look that the BBC tend to use, to give the tournament a special feel, and they have worked well. I got used to the large scoreboard after a while.

Having seen the bbc titles, itv titles, and the official titles I would say I quite liked itv's effort the most, it was catchy and memorable, I also liked the fact they weren't in the studio all the time, starting their coverage live on the beach, no other broadcaster did that.
