The news bulletin felt pre-recorded - very lifeless infront of a CSO screen. running for 15 minutes before a business bulletin, presented by the same bloke.

The programme before was slightly better from what I saw - everyone at least appeared competent. The Arts Alive intro was a bit awkward afterwards but it had nice enough opening titles which made it look like a proper TV programme.

The main Bay TV ident is pretty awful - feels like an ad for a shopping centre or something. They've a simple sting though which is neon on black which looks much better.

Also the fact here I am just outside Wrexham getting the Liverpool based channel as my "local" TV service shows how ridiculous this all is!

From the looks of things, it's not even as advanced as a CSO. It's just a photograph stuck on a wall.

Here's the launch show, consisting mainly of musical performances from local acts, with interviews from Liverpool celebrities and, at the start, Bay TV execs. The only thing I've removed are the adverts themselves, all the rest of the presentation including break bumpers are included.

And here's the news bulletin. Note how the last story appears to be tacked on, and the bulletin appears to end at 13:55 even though there's still the business news to get through (which consists of one story which goes on for 10 minutes).

Oh dear, I gave them too much credit. I did think though it was a very bad green screen effort, and no wonder they kept the desk out of shot. That set must have cost all of £50!

P.S. Twitter confirms the news was pre-recorded a couple of hours before broadcast. Surely this is falling foul of the most basic rule of news broadcasting on Day 1!

P.P.S. Website is awful - "Latest News" story is dated 25th November while the "Latest Sport" story is from the 4th November! It's no wonder nobody can take these tinpot TV channels seriously!

Nath appears to have been transported to a Soviet era studio complete with gun out of camera to his head.

The Aspergers package was good though and the female journalist with the lead PTC was solid.

You're using my syndrome for completely the wrong reason. I'd never buy that horrid stock music and graphics.

On a scale from Sheffield Live to London Live/Mustard/Notts TV, its not bad... (my expectations were low) It feels like a decent student production.... Jay seems like a decent presenter. The idents are a bit poor though, you have a decent looking logo tacked onto powerpointy graphics. I agree the news definitely feels Soviet, they are better off filming a 20 minute loop and using a massive LED screen instead of that picture.

(Gosh, I use 'decent' a lot)

You misunderstood, the report was good, not the graphics or stock music.

I doubt the budget for that exists, and if they did, I'm pretty sure they'd manage to make it look horrible. LED screens only work on camera when you get the pitch, distance from camera to screen and brightness properly balanced against one another. Do it wrong and you get a horrible moirey mess that's painful to watch.

There's nothing wrong with a lit cyc and a TV on a stand for news - doesn't cost much and can look quite good. Certainly better than some of these attempts at green screen. With this blow up, it's only a matter of time before the tape comes loose and it drops down during a programme...

The picture's a bit rubbish for me. I'm getting my signal from Winter Hill. When any one or anything moves, it turns into lines.
