Did they close the show properly? I've always thought it was odd, and would be better placed to have Lorraine around 8:26 before the last weather and then close the show, go to adverts and then Lorraine.
I was very impressed at the 3 guests spread around the studio with the three presenters interviewing them one on one, such a nice idea using the space well and offering something different to other channels.
I have to say I was extremely impressed with this mornings show. I caught it at various points across the first hour and felt that it was extremely news focused. It had a good deployment of skills and staff and I agree - Kate did an excellent job in Paris. She really can handle the hard news stories and feel that her skills are not necessarily always used to best effect. The use of the studio space this morning was also excellent and gave each presenter an opportunity to show what they are made of. If they can continue in this way the programme may have a chance. I think some of the comments re. It feels like GMTV etc are a little unfair. In some ways there are always going to be similarities as GMTV was there for a long time at breakfast and in some ways GMB is still doing the same job - bringing news at breakfast time on itv. However I do not think GMB has done itself any favours in tampering with a presenting format that was so strong in its initial transmission. As long as itv are committed to developing GMB and see it as being part of breakfast for the foreseeable I think it will eventually become a success.
Missed today's show but the comments on the usage of presenters around the studio has been given a real hype. Anyone sure of the times so I can have a look for myself?
The part of the programme in which Susanna, Ben, and John all led a separate interview was around 6:40am ish, if I remember correctly. Certainly between 6:30am and 7:00am.
Kate alongside Susanna this morning, with John as news anchor. Interesting.
I think John, Kate and Ranvir are being used on an equal basis and rotating between presenter and newsreader when they cover. I like the mix and think Susanna and Kate are good together.
They seem to bounce off each other with John being the serious anchor for the news.
I noticed Richard Arnold played up on Kate's sofa appearance introducing himself as though she's new with Suzanna replying "she'll be appearing regularly".
As for ratings, they won't change over night, but the content has been excelled this past week, and the lighter mixes are working well. Hopefully they stick to this and don't remove news any further.
I've noticed that the sugar free campaign has disappeared on the programme this week, unless it hasn't been mentioned until much later on.
