So London Live has made it to one year old (though no-one seems to be shouting about it).
It's a little different from a year ago - but is it any better?
Wake Up London, Headline London, Not The One Show, 14-1, London Local and Platform 8 are all gone, so are 3 of the 4 original presenters, most of the management team and a third of the staff.
Top 10 shows continue to draw between 20 and 30 thousand viewers, when their business plan called for at least double that.
So what does the future hold for the 'flagship' local tv channel?

It'll limp on until a rebrand or sold to another group. The London licence regardless of it's poor performance is still too big to hand in the licence back to Ofcom, even if it means Lebedev sells at a considerable loss.

That's a pretty fair article to be honest. Worth a read.

London Live's ratings continue to baffle me. W/e 29th March the top 3 are episodes of Trigger Happy TV broadcast between 7.30 and 9.00 on Saturday Morning. Number 4 was an episode is Spaced at 1am Tuesday and 5th was Made in Chelsea.
No locally produced programme made the Top 10. The top show generated 45,000 viewers which was up on the previous week.

Frankly I dont know what the big fuss is all. Classic tv is great. I dont have a problem with it. Who doesnt like nostalgia? The expectation that viewers have of local tv is completely off kilter. You cant do 100% local productions on commercial tv. Its unrealistic to think that is a profitable reality. Its not and never will be. People have been watching Friends reruns for years. Ehh. Get over 100% local productions. Its simply not profitable. The issue is the local productions should be centered on News and Information which LL is sorely lacking in that department. When these stations launched they should have tamped down the idea of 100% local productions. Syndicated and re-runs, classic movies are the only truly successful model for commercial local tv with some local shows thrown in the mix. Unless you plan on launching a bunch of public access channels, which aside from LL and STV, the other stations seem to be doing and have varying results. ITs not sustainable to do all local productions.

I think what SuperDave is trying to prove isn't the re-runs are outdoing the local output, rather the strange peaks the channel has, none in peak, all off-peak.
Going by those Barb figures, viewers tend to watch LL in the capital when there's nothing on the main channels when flicking through the programme guide.

I wouldn't really group "Trigger Happy TV" and "Made in Chelsea" as classic TV. Made in Chelsea is still on air, for one!

Thank you London Lite - that was exactly my point!
