Only just got round to watching the late night ITV3 episodes, the 1970 episode seems really strange because of all the American characters in it!

I think this is the first time this episode's been seen since it was broadcast, never shown on Granada Plus or released on VHS or DVD.

I really wish we could see more episodes from the 60s, 70s and early 80s get broadcast.

I agree the 1970 episode was a strange one, not helped that we didnt see the episodes before it to get the backstory. But i guess they just wanted to air the episode from the anniversary date. I wasn't sure the 1980 episodes would be that good either as personally i didnt like Arnold Swain as a character but there was plenty of comedy with Stan and Hilda as well as Rita and Mavis. Eileen Derbyshire was also really good in these episodes, better acting than in later episodes IMO.

I had a feeling it might be the Granada Plus edit of the 2nd 1980 episode as it didnt have the Granada logo at the start which Granada Plus always edited out and ITV3 kept in when they started their run.

Back to modern Corrie and another good episode to finish the 60th week. I didnt expect that with Adam. Although we got the usual scenes of characters like Carla, Sarah etc acting suspiciously to make the audience think its them that did it!

Gigantic cue dots going into the breaks.

Interesting who wasn’t in this live episode - no Gail, Sally, Kevin

Peter’s first appearance, Dev looks so young, David’s about 2 feet tall but still cheeky

No Betty, Fred or Alma either. And I dont think Betty and Gail appeared in the 2010 live episode.

I cant believe how young Dev and Peter both looked.

From memory I thought Fred did appear. But clearly not. John Savident was of course headline news in the days running up to the live episode after he was stabbed.

Helen Worth demanded not to be in either live ep didn’t she due to nerves? Can’t remember if she was in the 2015 one which most people have already forgotten! Anne Kirkbride wasn’t in the anniversary live eps for similar reasons I think

I have been involved with the new sponsor of Coronation Street who will be taking over from Compare the market.com as the sponsor.

I am a member of Itv media however not allowed to reveal who the new sponsor will be or any details of the new sponsorship as of this moment in time but watch this space!

Just because the new sponsor hasn't been announced in the public domain it doesn't mean ITV don't know who the new sponsor is.

Emmerdale's sponsor used to be McCain and now it is People's Postcode Lottery Emmerdale did go sponsorless for about a week however just because a show goes temporarily sponsorless doesn't mean they don't have the new sponsor underwraps the new sponsor didn't replace McCain overnight as they had a start date in place of when the new sponsorship would begin.

So it has been confirmed as Argos. It will be interesting to see on screen. Hopefully nothing as monotonous as the tired meerkat character ads!

He was meant to be in, but they gave his lines to others as a result of him being stabbed.

A good job he wasn't important to the episode, remember when Lacey Turner nearly couldn't do the live EastEnders episode because she was losing her voice, and Stacey was the key character in that episode- would have been a disaster if she'd been unable to do it!

Does that mean someone like Roy or Ken suddenly said

"Lets get out there and save those cobbles I say save those cobbles"

Just watching the 2000 live episode it begins with a scratchy film look over the opening scene, preumably to make it look like the early episodes, though being anal the episodes wouldn't have looked like that originally (especially as the every other episode was live when the show first began), only because they only exist now as scratchy telerecordings.

Hard to believe it's 20 years old though, I'm sure it doesn't look as dated as the 1980 episodes would have looked in 2000. Apart from being made in 4:3, the CRT TVs, Ken's laptop and the smoking in the Rovers, it doesn't really look that old at all.

That scratchy film look also came off the back of a 40 years promo. I think it was a ‘Thanks from ITV’. I think the 60th was lacking a little gesture like that.

The 2010 episode shows what a bad decision it was to drop the custom Corrie font for ITV Reem for the post-titles credits.

I remember it. At that time HTV were still plastering their logo over the top of ITV in all promos and this promo was no exception.

Did it have much of an impact on viewing figures...?

Technically even by the 2000 episode the generic credits had been in use for a few months, they just went back to the pre-generic style for the live episode.
