Nice one, Sky!

Sky News broadcasted a report between 6pm and 7pm this evening about Gordon Brown speaking for the first time since his baby daughter died last month. Sky News' report featured a clip from GMTV.

Over the area where the GMTV clock usually sits, Sky News had placed the ugly red box saying 'Brown Interview', blocking out the GMTV clock completely. Obviously they didn't want to confuse people with Sky News' clock at the top of the screen. The 'Brown Interview' box and the aston saying 'Gordon Brown   Chancellor Of The Exchequer' remained on the GMTV clip from beginning to end, leaving hardly much GMTV clip left!

But one daft thing Sky News did was not block out the 'gmtv.co.uk' text which usually sits above the GMTV clock, making it look like Sky was trying to do ITV a bit of a favour by promoting GMTV's website, when 'sky.com' is no longer around on Sky News!

The 'gmtv.co.uk' text on the Sky News report could be seen directly above the ugly red box saying 'Brown Interview'.

A complete cock-up made by Sky on this report. I'm sure this report will be on Sky News a few times before midnight, if anyone with capturing facilities could upload the report perhaps...?

They didn't get the vt from GMTV then, they usually give a recording without the clock.

GMTV probably forced broadcasters to tape it as it was broadcast, i.e. no clean feed.

Ryan: do you mean the red box?

This was probably done to obscure the GMTV clock time, so Sky may have had no problem with gmtv.co.uk. It does seem strange though... this would never have happened with the former graphics package!

Why is this 'A complete cock up,' Ryan?

What are you expecting Sky to do, Ryan? Tailor their graphics package so that it blocks out the clocks and websites of other broadcasters?

It is no more of a cock up than when the Sky News DOG appears on the BBC News when they take an interview from Sky's Sunday with Adam Boulton programme, or when the BBC take ABC pictures with the ABC DOG and astons on them.

The red blobs are designed so that people can tune in and know what the report is about, that's why it's left up.

Would you have rather that they just didn't broadcast the interview at all for fear of disturbing the petty minority (that's you, Ryan, by the way) who actually care that a size 6 font 'gmtv.co.uk' URL appears on their screen?!

There's no need to get offensive now, c@t.

And yes, thankyou for correcting me on the red box, Das mate. Wink I meant red where 'Brown Interview' was written, not blue. Thanks again. Very Happy

Cat,

Again you open you gob. Why do you bother.

Television presentation is why this forum exists. Sky made a balls up with their presentation of this VT.

THAT MEANS, it is a suitable topic to discuss on this forum.

If it had been any other news channel it would rightly have been discussed right here, as this is the place to do it.

Why do you take up personal insults with every person who crits sky?

Why are sky broadcasting GMTVs output. Do they not have their own?

Oh and can anyone confirm, is it 6pts or 8 for the GMTV onscreen URL?

And lastly, are you on medication. Its just you do this every few weeks, mood swings, its bizarre. However very amusing to watch. Smile

>Again you open you gob. Why do you bother.

Because, young man, there are people like you in this world who are in desperate need of an education. I often wonder why people like yourself bother to make contributions, especially if they are of an insulting or rude nature.

>Television presentation is why this forum exists. Sky made a balls up with their presentation of this VT.

No, you see, that's just the point, Sky did not make a balls up with their presentation at all. The red box was in the right place, the aston was in the right place, the interview went out without technical problems. There was no technical problems with this report whatsoever, I merely wanted to correct Ryan on this issue - it seems some people have difficulty understanding the English language and interpret my posts to mean something entirely different.

>THAT MEANS, it is a suitable topic to discuss on this forum.

Was I suggesting otherwise? No.

>Why do you take up personal insults with every person who crits sky?

I don't. I do, however, insult people who read into issues so trivial that they feel the need to create a thread about them every five minutes. If you have a problem with that, tough. It isn't changing.

>Why are sky broadcasting GMTVs output. Do they not have their own?

Well, what do you think? I think the answer to that might just be no, don't you? You see, GMTV had an 'exclusive' interview with Gordon Brown. Now, let me explain this to you. Mr Brown went to GMTV's studios and nobody else's. Therefore, neither Sky nor the BBC could get their own interviews with Mr Brown. What exactly would you have liked Sky to do? Go to the effort of moving their graphics about so that the 0.0000000000000001% of the population who actually cared about this could sleep at night? Do grow up.

>And lastly, are you on medication. Its just you do this every few weeks, mood swings, its bizarre. However very amusing to watch. Smile

Remind me, haven't I just been critisised by your good self for making personal insults? I have a word for you to look up, young man, hypocrite

I do agree with you on this one, c@t.
Sky did NOT make a cock-up of this report at all. They merely used GMTV's interview and carried on with everything else as normal, meaning graphics wise, red blobs and blue astons appeared as normal and in the right places.
I don't see how you, Ryan, could even think that this was a cock-up, I don't find anything wrong with it at all.

I have to agree with c@t, there was no cock up here. It just so happned the graphics covered the GMTV clock and the URL was just above it and the graphics arn't that tall, it was the same size graphics they always use!

I'm not going to get too involved here as I've made the point before and don't want to continue the debate.

I really object to this idea that c@t is 'educating' people on the forum. I PMed him about this a while back and was really fobbed off to be honest, but I hate this idea that c@t feels he has the right to insult and patronise people on this forum. Ryan may have been in the wrong in starting this thread, but it does not mean he has to be 'educated' or other members be insulted for challenging c@t's point of view. This frequently seems to be the case.

I just wonder if the subject matter of this thread were changed from Sky News to News 24, whether c@t would have posted in support for Ryan. Would such a topic have required re-education, c@t?

Ryan may have been in the wrong in starting this thread, but...
Why was I wrong in starting this thread? I mentioned about the report being a cock-up, that's what I personally think, even if people don't agree with me. Very Happy If people think that it wasn't a cock-up then fine, they can think that.
