Piers Morgan to leave GMB

Wow! Waking up to all these pages of rota speculation! I guess it’s slightly justified in this case.

Only one person mentioned Sean Fletcher. He’s still in the GMB family and could bridge the gap until ITV decide on a permanent replacement.

Tom Bradby isn’t a bad idea either.

Radical thoughts to keep it all in the family:

Schofield and Susanna for GMB.
Eamonn and Ruth for TM.
Holly to replace Ruth on LW.

You heard it here first! Philip knows how to conduct an interview. Much more than Adil Ray. And alongside Susanna or another, it could just work. And the ‘signing’ of Philip would retain sufficient daytime viewer interest given he’s a known name and face.

Also allows for some tweaking across at the other programmes as well. (Eamonn and Ruth already a proven formula on TM).

Away from tv and pres, it’s sad that the departure of Piers has now become the story itself. Everyone is talking about him, and Harry and Meghan are something of a side dish for the timebeing.

Ironically, Piers will love all this attention he’s getting. Although a lot of the online comment is very negative, it’s still keeping his name up there and ‘feeding the beast’, so to speak.

I'll weigh in on the replacement suggestion - Jeremy Kyle!

He was fantastic when he guest hosted a few years ago, can clearly handle debate, ask difficult questions etc...

The dust has settled on his show that was axed and I reckon this could be a perfect comeback for him....

The more you look at it, the more it looks like Piers has done the Royal Family a huge favour. While the Harry and Meghan Story hasn't gone away, it certainly taken a back seat for now, give it a few days and that story will have receeded into it's normal position on the news agenda. Something else will be talked about next week, and it's very, very unlikely Harry and Meghan are ever going to get such a high profile interview again.

The interview will be remembered in the years to come in the long term, but in the short term (and that's what matters right now) It seems to be as much about Morgan's behaviour as the two across the pond.

If I were a cynical person I would think that it was preplaned by Morgan for today. You couldn't pick a better day to deflect attention away from the Royal family and it's alleged failings.

He surprisingly got no mention on any of the three US evening news broadcasts. I expected one to make a throwaway comment.

Update - Ranvir has just said that it will be her and Susanna from 6:30 and that they will talk about Piers.

Ranvir is replacing Piers today. Plastered all over social media and the news, Piers was not mentioned in the headlines once - apart from Ranvir saying “we will talk about you know what that’s on your minds”.

I think it's more that the first half hour is kind of it's own entity and so it might just be better to do the 6-6:30 as normal, and then talk about Piers just after the 6:30 TOTH

6:30 is BOTH surely?

Susanna handled that well, Ranvir is the perfect fit. She did mention that she was there already in the news corner, but she is a fantastic broadcaster and journalist and has been since Daybreak.

I agree, Susanna is clearly upset. Ranvir on the other hand, doesn’t seem in the least bit bothered (from what I can see).
