Interesting to hear Hugh Porter still doing the speed skating. I thought he'd been retired by the BBC as he doesn't do cycling anymore.

Slightly OT but the Downhill showed incredible event sterility. Only a couple of spectator locations, totally unlike other FIS events.

I'm sure that if the BBC intended to base their programmes in a studio, they could have either got a studio built in/on the IBC, or shipped in their own set to put on top of a nearby building or the like. If, on the other hand, they intended to have a small Olympic park studio as a backup for when they couldn't present outside, spending as little as possible on it would make sense.
I doubt very much that they've chosen to present outside due to the size / look of the studio space they booked.
They get better studios for sub-regional opts on the news - no wonder they use it as little as possible.

If the events of today, with competition delays in at least two events, are repeated during the Paralympic Games, Channel 4 will be going spare trying to fit their ad breaks around them.

Quick question, I'm a little confused at the satellite delays between the various locations and the Olympic Park.
I would have thought that all the feeds were coming from other locations to the Olympic Park. But whenever presenters based at the Olympic Park ask a question to commentators at another location, as well as the answer being delayed from the remote site, the response from the presenter at the Park is also delayed.
This would suggest that all the feeds are being coordinated at a central area, something some distance away as to induce a delay in both directions.
Any ideas?

I was surprised at this too, would have thought the Rosa Khutor - Adler signals would be by fibre alongside the new road and rail links.

Penguins ident used into the midday hour on BBC ONE.
edit ....
.... also seems that the BBC are sharing commentary with other English speaking commentators .... Canadian voices now on the China v Canada Curling. This has been done at previous games so not new.

Presumably that's the international commentary supplied by OBS?
