It's the 500th episode tomorrow.
Is tomorrow not Friday?
Yes. I took David's post to mean today.
Good news for The Chase on ITV[1]. It's the 500th episode and without Pointless as competition it will probably get a few extra viewers.

Coverage now moving to BBC One at 4.30pm.
Really is nonsense. At least with Murray at Wimbledon, there's an element of fluidity with match scheduling etc, plus the general build-up of interest and importance as the tournament progresses.
Today is not a surprise. The Sochi timetable was published months and months ago. If theyre looking for more exposure, I can't understand why this wasn't scheduled for BBC One in the first place.

Remember today is DAY TWO of the competition, scheduling for BBC ONE with the real uncertainty of how the British Competitors would perform on DAY ONE would have been risky. I gather the off time for the fourth run is 1720 UK, which would leave little explanatory background. A clean swap of the 1630 - 1800 programming seems sensible in the circumstances.

Lizzy Yarnold is the current world skeleton champion. She was always billed as Britain's biggest hope for a gold medal at these Games. It would have been a massive surprise had she not been in contention going into the final runs.
I agree that 1630 - 1800 is sensible. But considering the coverage was initially on BBC Two, then was changed to BBC One at 5.15pm (and advertised as such), and now has been changed to BBC One at 4.30pm, it comes across as sloppy planning.
Perhaps a better idea would have been to schedule the coverage on BBC One in the first place. Then, if things had not gone to plan yesterday for the Brits, move the coverage to BBC Two considering there would be less interest anyway.
