Just a note regarding MBC News , since the station is currently undertaking industrial action, all news programmes are emanating from the MBC Newsroom and have rescheduled some programmes. News Today was moved from 0600 to 0700. The Noon news was shortened and several entertainment shows on MBC like the variety show Infinite Challenge have suspended production and are rerunning programming. The public broadcaster (and government-funded) KBS is also on strike and have their news programmes shortened and production of their entertainment shows having been suspended. The main newscast of record for both broadcasters, KBS News 9 and MBC Newsdesk are also airing 30-40 minute editions.
As of typing, there are over 3,800 KBS and MBC employees have walked off of the job and an arrest warrant was issued for the MBC president.

Actually, KBS finance themselves from the equivalent of UK's TV License, and ad sales.

Actually, KBS finance themselves from the equivalent of UK's TV License, and ad sales.

It's a bit of both "KBS is a public corporation (공사, 公社) funded by the South Korean government and license fees, but managed independently. As part of the Constitution, the president of KBS is chosen by the President of South Korea, after being recommended by its board of directors. Political parties in South Korea also have the right to name members of the KBS board of directors" so they receive money through licence fees, the government and advertising

Is there any particular reasoning why there's English text in the opening?

Just an unnecessary gig.

By the way, MBC News M was suspended.

The shortened intro for "MBC Evening News" is due to industrial action. Most newscast graphics in Korea do have some English in them (e.g. KBS News 9, JTBC Newsroom, SBS News 8 )

Moving aside from South Korea to its next door neighbour Japan, Fuji TV's late night newscast Your Time ended last week. Your Time follows a laidback format which includes discussions with its panels just like TV Asahi's Hodo Station. The replacement is The News Alpha. This is their prime time news update seen on one of its affiliates:
