Perhaps they are using it as a tribute in the rundown to the move?

How, in any way, does using a new mix of a theme tune we’ve never heard before pay tribute to The London Studios?

The new mix mostly seems to be the 2014 theme with the 2017 ending. It sounds quite similar to the mock version produced by Ubox a while ago. All of the beds and stings being used this morning are the 2014 versions. Erron Gordon has already said that we won’t be getting a brand new theme tune, but there could instead be a new mix.

Would they have taken some of the cameras and other equipment to TVC for rehearsals? The wide shots after the titles have been very limited this morning, mostly static shots, so I’m wondering if they’ve started taking equipment (i.e. jibs).

I have a feeling ITV would have their own cameras and equipment already in place at Television Centre and would not have to rely on transporting cameras and equipment from TLS.

Why? They are hiring TC2 and TC3 off BBC Studioworks, so the technical equipment provided by Studioworks would come off the back of the renting of the studios.

Pretty lousy deal struck by ITV if they had to supply their own cameras, when there's some ready to be fired up, in the technical stores out the back of TVC..

The mix of the theme today sounds very clumsy and hastily bashed together, the rhythm completely changes from the beginning 2017 clarion call to the 2014 theme then back.

2014 theme has returned this morning.

Was a mishmash between the original and the latest one actually. Sounded rather odd...

I presume its use was for the seriousness of their main story?

Normally when they do that, they just go back to the 2014 theme for the whole day.

It does sound really shoddily edited together:

Very odd edit.

Could it be used because of the opening story being about a murder?

I don't understand the edit to keep the 2017 opening horn with the 2014 backing. If anything the 2014 horn would be better with the 2017 backing. The 2017 version sounds too Casio keyboard to me, the weakest part of the 2017 music.

Kate Garraway really is quite annoying these days isn’t she, with that intro making a fuss of her dress, so full of herself. You never had that when she was on GMTV with Andrew Castle.

Always has been. Just can't understand why bosses favour her over Charlotte.

Say what you like... it hasn't exactly served her badly with so many years on the sofa! Perhaps the bosses feel she has more personality than Charlotte? She's become a big part of the GMB brand, just as Piers and Susanna have.

As I've said in the past, I'm not quite sure why there is quite so much dislike for Kate. She is quite lively (and at times a little overpowering) but it's much better to be light and bubbly than a bit dull... particularly for a morning programme. I also like Charlotte though and I like the combination of Charlotte and Kate presenting together - their personalities and presenting styles compliment each other quite well in my opinion.

That said, I suppose everyone has different opinions on the type of person they find annoying so I suppose the viewing figures are the best way to get an overall picture of how presenters are liked by the public.

Kate annoys me with that bloody hair. Looks like she just woke up and that stupid fringe that covers her eyes and it’s like she always has to squint to read the autocue because of it. Her time has been on morning tv now and time to retire...

Time too retire because you don’t like her hair - please be joking! Rolling Eyes
To be quite honest this is the kind of comment that should never be made. She’s an experienced and competent broadcaster and if you were to take issue it should be for her aggressive & tabloid interview style - not her lid.

Nobody is saying Robert Peston should retire or complaining about a mans hair. Because she’s a women it’s okay to be making these comments which is just absurd.
