From what I've seen on the News Channel, quite a bland, lifeless presenter. Here's to hoping he'll improve.

However, he is from Stoke on Trent and has worked before in Manchester, so I'm hoping he'll know how to cover our region adequately. On the whole though, it's just going to be strange not seeing Gordon on the show, whoever took over.

Will this mean that Ranvir will be the senior presenter, or will he? What about the lunchtime bulletin?

Any news on when SHE (Dianne) will be back? I really want Kaye to stay. I'm hoping they'll be a position for her at Salford, perhaps BBC Breakfast. She seems good enough for national broadcasts.

A good choice I'd say, i am surprised though that someone who is not already there hasn't been appointed. Rogers done plenty on South Today and has a good rapport with Sally Taylor and is a good stand in fore her so I'm pleased about that!
Lets hope the North West warm to him
Really early to announce Gordon's replacement as well isn't it?

I can see him doing the Lunchtime programme though it's pure prediction, Kaye has impressed me but it's not the same without Dianne and I agree I hope there is a position for Kaye come Salford. I think it's a good appointment it will help him build on his sports work and does anyone else see him maybe doing Late Kick Off?

With Roger Johnson having a solid grounding in sports journalism, is there really the need for a designated sports presenter each Monday, Wednesday and Friday? I think it overmans the show. Aged 25, Gordon was the ITV networks' youngest sports editor (when at UTV) - surely he has/had the interest and knowledge to successfully present this aspect of the programme?

Wow!!! They clearly didn't have a clue what was going on! Still, at least some news got out there.

That's exceptionally creative of them to manage to play audio under network pictures - that's not meant to be possible without a fair amount of messing about?

Surely if you were to opt but select network as your vision source output, you can do what you want with the sound output

Only difficult in the pre DSO regions, in post DSO regions the hard switching of the DVB chains using the on air tally from the analogue path is disposed with. I've seen in post DSO regions nice smooth dissolves in and out of network at the opt points. presumably because the studio audio and video mixers are looped in from the soft opt points.

It's almost as professional looking as a BBC Nation Laughing

That's interesting to know, hadn't realised they were re-engineering it to that extent.

It doesn't happen instantly after DSO, took BBC Bristol about six months after Mendip had switched to rewire themselves.

On the other hand BBC Cambridge were doing it ahead of DSO, because Sandy Heath BBC 1 analogue was being fed via D-Sat anyway, so they had no 'analogue' Tx path.

Well North West Tonight seem to have been mixing their Sound and Vision (!) at the beginning of the programme each night. The headline bed seems to go over the national news' "now the news where you are" and continues into NWT's introduction.
