surely those slides used on Breakfast Opt for Travel are not good for safe area and small televisions?? the word TRAVEL is well to the left of the clock?

Just checked using VLC's crop feature, indeed on 4:3 you can only see 'RAVEL' and the picture is cut off, however it seems the actual information is in the safe area on all of the pics.

Let's hope someone from the BBC is lurking around here and takes note of the safe areas, assuming they haven't realised themselves!

I wonder if NW Breakfast will share the studio with Breakfast, so we get a special opt out like...

"And now the news where you are. *pause for other region opt outs* Over to so-and-so with the breakfast news from the North West"

Hasn't it been mentioned hundreds of times that NW will be in a separate studio for Breakfast?

Probably but I'm not really one to trawl through 40 pages of a thread just to find out about it.

It all looks very nice - have tried watching the programme on the BBC I Player but it is not available as yet. How many TV studios do they have at Salford Quays and is there a large studio with capacity for large audiences like Pacific Quay - I would imagine so...

Sports Personality of the Year is coming from Salford this year, so obviously there is a pretty large studio. I think that may be a MediaCity studio though, not a BBC one.

I'm playing the waiting game like you for iPlayer to update at the moment.

Hardly "new" isn't it? It might be in a new building but it's the same tired old look the BBC regions have had for far too long - and the "new" titles aren't much of an improvement - and nowhere near as good as the look BBC NWT created for themselves before Lambie Nairn got their hands on them again.

Ah thanks - did not think about the Sports Personality of the Year - well done. Will ITV Granada be moving to Media City any time soon?

They will, as well Coronation Street, and all the other Manchester-based programmes, like Jeremy Kyle, don't know a date though.

Sure that look was great, but at the time the regions were once again a mish mash of different identities. The 2008 look brought this all together, as well as this updated titles/music which is being rolled out to each region.

Not to mention the inappropiate font they used for the logo, looked completely out of place against the Gill Sans BBC logo.

I have to say though, graphics standards have dropped considerably on both national and local news since the 2008 relaunch.

Nice studio, titles etc but as was previously said the presenting is very wooden and lack any sort of chemistry, every time one spoke, the other looked miserable, I can see ratings for Granada Reports increasing since Gordon left. Maybe it's because I'm used to Look North where all the presenters have good chummy chemistry and all the other regions are like this?!

True, but in all fairness - I think the chemistry between Gordon and Ranvir was a slow burner.

They need time to establish themselves and it will not happen overnight.

I've been in work all day today so I've yet to see it on TV, but I really like the new look from what I've seen, quite surprised we've got new titles, but no shock we've got the Midlands Today music, all seems quite cosy though.

It definitely was. An interview with Gordon in 2007 said he didn't like double-headed programmes because of the experience he had with the Krypton Factor. The chemistry even between Ranvir and Diane took a while to happen.

I think tonight's chemistry failure at the end had something to do with Ranvir being told to say good night too early. It must be difficult to look relaxed and have a chat whilst anticipating someone in your ear telling you to shut up and say bye whilst making the chat seem seamless.

I think it would have looked better if Roger and Ranvir remained standing for the top story with images of it on the screens, similar to the six.
