Would it be too technical to assume that desk has various height settings and all they need to do is move the sofa and bring in chairs?

That 'coffee table' looks like an almost identical copy of that used by Breakfast in TC7, complete with embedded screens under the glass and mouse/keyboards on top rather than laptops as in most other regions.

It will be interesting to see how they light the set differently for Breakfast. In the past they could've gone for an 'orange theme', but since they have adopted the corporate red of BBC News, I can't see it looking much different apart from the image on the screens.

Incidentally, are they massive plasma screens, or just very good back-projection screens?

This studio cant possibly be the same office space as seen in the feature we saw about a year ago. If it is, why would they cover up the windows with Plasmas?

If it is the same location, Ive got a sneaking suspicion that weve not seen the whole of this studio. Perhaps their avoiding the windows (if there are any) due to the massive reflections they would get during darkness and we will start to see the proper view during the summer months.

...I would like to see some behind the scenes images.

The new title graphics and studio are superb. Loving the background, it has far more depth for a virtual background than TC7 & N6. As for the music... the headline bed is aweful, no problems with the rest...

I quite like the music and BBC NW have always seemed to want to move away from what the other regions have.
Set, well yes it would have been nice to have had a desk but what we have now is quite a nice combination of desk and sofa. The view from the main studio is nice although I'm struggling to make things out. You can definitely make out the Imperial war museum but then to the left of the studio it looks a bit like Central Manchester which, geographically shouldn't be in that position. As I mentioned before, the ' NW Breakfast update' studio has a nice view which is clearer and has Salford Quays/Central Manchester/Beetham Tower view in relation to how it should be geograpically.

All in all view, a great studio and set, I like the music and the North West surely has the best regional news programme and set in England.

Funnily enough though, we had a similar awkward silence between the 4 presenters at the end in the same way there was on the first day of the 2007 relaunch!

I disagree, it's not that great.

Fantastic visuals, brilliant new studio - terrible, ill thought out set.

. . . and the titles/credits from lunchtime. I hope all the other regions get a similar makeover for the titles.

I suspect the only reason they've got new titles because they've been done for HD, the other regions might have to wait a bit

Admittedly, it depends on each individuals tastes. My comment however wasn't purely based on the set but also the patch. It's a vibrant, diverse and in places, cosmopolitan region and the news agenda is often better than many other regions. Considering the London region can have issues such as story overlaps with national agenda and the fact that many people who work in the Capital aren't home in time, the Northwest region is probably the best in England.....IMO.

Will the North West Breakfast Opts be the ones broadcast on the NC when Breakfast moves to Salford or will we still be stuck with the aweful London "Tube is down and there are loads of traffic jams" News.

How is that any worse than "there's tailbacks on the M62 and some scroates have nicked the cables at Huddersfield again so all the trains are up the swanny" ?

I wonder if NW Breakfast will share the studio with Breakfast, so we get a special opt out like...

"And now the news where you are. *pause for other region opt outs* Over to so-and-so with the breakfast news from the North West"

surely those slides used on Breakfast Opt for Travel are not good for safe area and small televisions?? the word TRAVEL is well to the left of the clock?

Just checked using VLC's crop feature, indeed on 4:3 you can only see 'RAVEL' and the picture is cut off, however it seems the actual information is in the safe area on all of the pics.

Hasn't it been mentioned hundreds of times that NW will be in a separate studio for Breakfast?

Be interesting to see what the Politics Show looks like on Sunday! It was an outside broadcast yesterday so no last look in the old studio, or peek into the new Salford studio.
