Not that anybody evcer complainers about missing a show on Channel 5, but C5 too launch C5+1, and they've got a Freeview slot from somewhere for it too.

I wasn't a fan of the new style programme specific idents at first, but this one for the season premiere of
The Mentalist
(Thursday, 10pm) is rather good:

Does channel 5 do something to the picture on neighbours? On several TV's I've watched it on, I've had to turn up the brightness because the picture is so dark yet on channel 11, the picture is so good, you can see what colour the walls are!

I think because the current package there's an established concept, it kinda helps the consistency. Where as the last 'FIVE' package was just all over the place.

You've got to hand it to them, they were presented with a logo of unquantifiable terribleness and have somehow transformed it into a well-rounded, fantastic looking on air package.
Paul Merton's current series is going out ad-less with trails filling the breaks, allowing ample opportunity to show off countless trail endboard variations, which are the highlights for me. Probably the best of any channel at the moment, each one intricately thought out and executed; they're obviously an extremely talented bunch.
Shame about the remainder of the Channel's output...

It will be interested to see what they can come up with for their Christmas presentation using the screen theme.
I think that their in house team are very talented, as much as I liked the original end boards created, they have shown how adaptive these can be, and still fit well together. I enjoy what they do to create programme specific idents in a similar vein to the previous look, but my only critisism is that they all seem to start with a long shot of the screen and zoom in, and potentially if i'm really being picky, the fact that they dont use the original red '5' logo. My favourite themed ident was the one done for the walking dead, it used the red theme well, and didn't escape much from the launch theme.
