Fanatics.

Maybe nothing EVER goes wrong in your house. Maybe it's all just fine and dandy in Fanaticland. But you know, sometimes, things don't work.

And i'm sure there are forums where you can discuss those matters.

This forum thread is here to discuss news presentation on the BBC News channel, which people are doing and includes situations where things don't go according to plan.

I'm with Muckspreader, to an extent. Sometimes things go wrong - not every dodgy camera move needs to be mentioned here, we all know what an automation mistake looks like.

That said, I'm going to shoot myself in the foot and post a video of something minor going wrong, because it's not something I've seen before: skip forward to 1'18" to see a clip that, judging by some of the screens in the background, has been waiting to be used for quite some time...

(this went out on BBC One HD and the News Channel; there were live headlines with the correct presenter at the quarter past heads)

And someone's nicked one of the TVs too!

I wonder if you could date when that was recorded by finding exactly which speech David Cameron was making?

Looks like a press conference from the White House. The grey plasma was replaced with the black framed one a month or so into that Sports set going live, as it suffered badly from screen burn. If that logic is right, it would be between the 6th March - 6th April 2012.

Edit: Looks vaguely similar to this shot from a White House press briefing with Obama and Cameron on the 14th March 2012.

So, I believe VMPhil that maybe your answer. Smile

That's some good sleuthing. And the week after the Sport Centre went live.

I've seen that clip one or two times before - I guess it's an emergency filler if there's something wrong at Salford.

Could it be used when the headline sequence is complex with lots of lives? Playing the generic sport tease from "tape" saves an outside source into the gallery

Bit of a strange opening to the news at 9. We had the silly long titles which don't feature the newsroom or the '9''crash into a static shot of Clive Myrie in the studio. It looked somewhat awkward.

Annita McVeigh just starred in the NHS Winter: A day in A&E's promo on the channel. Wasn't it Branwen Jeffreys who normally faced these series of programs?

Yesterday, at the 430 BOTH, instead of the panning of the newsroom, they played the long titles instead...a bit like to TOTH headlines.
