Absolutely not. They need to balance some consistency and stick with this programme. They need to maintain Susanna and Ben as the main presenters. I would like to see the 4 presenters back at the desk and have a round up of the sports headlines after the news headlines from Sean.
There's not much they can do though. They have to run a breakfast programme or the argument for a separate breakfast franchise becomes impossible to sustain. There's no point in another rebrand at this stage.

One could argue the problems with the breakfast show all started when ITV took overall control, as things have steadily gone downhill ratings wise since they bought out GMTV. There is to all intents and purposes no separate breakfast programme on ITV these days, as it has gone to great efforts to look, behave and act like ITV - the only "clue" otherwise is on Ofcom's database.
Perhaps there was logic in the original decision to have an entirely separate franchise for ITV Breakfast TV. However that being said, both TV-AM and GMTV had major issues in their early days, as both had financial losses and low numbers of viewers - same old story thirty odd years later, you'd have thought somebody would have learnt something by now.

Although ITV Breakfast Ltd is operating at a profit according to that Guardian article.

So love him or hate him, I've actually enjoyed Piers on GMB this week and that's something I would never hear myself saying. Yeah, he can be a pompous a*** and a bit of an egomanic but he was actually not off putting at all...

Its all very separate from a UTV NI and STV point of view though - they don't get any money from the advertising sales between 06:00 - 9:25.

Again I strangely agree. He's doing well so far on tonight's Question Time too. I'll be intrigued to see how Kate handles him tomorrow to see if she gives as good as she gets from him.

I think the line about only 6 of the 19 key presenting and editorial having no links to GMTV highlights just what we were saying a few days ago. Indeed it's worse than I thought, especially when you consider that Susanne, Charlotte and Sean are 3 of those 6.
Obviously behind the scenes there are the realities of employment law to consider but I just can't see things changing when you've got people there who seem far too quick to press the reset button, even though they should know better than most that's the worst thing you can do. It's still profitable so ITV don't seem too concerned and I suspect even if it was running at a loss OFCOM wouldn't even consider pulling the licence from them but for me the only way now for the Channel 3 Breakfast franchise to be revived it to put it out to tender again.

Although whenever it does change, they fail to attract any new viewers, as they are happy with BBC Breakfast, and it turns off the viewers that like the GMTV style, so they end up with less viewers, panic, and make sure they don't lose anymore by reverting to GMTV.
Unless BBC Breakfast employed Piers Morgan or Victoria Derbyshire or went really serious hard news, increasing the audience for GMB is pretty much an impossible task.
