The only problem is that you may miss the news cycle by going in the evening. The agenda is set by the likes of Marr and Sky's show being in the morning, and from then the media is generally reacting to that. A lot of newspapers set their agenda in the afternoon and it would take a hefty story to change that direction. To gain as much publicity for any new show it would need some agenda-setting interviews.

This doesn't really matter if you consider ITV's role to just be getting a shedload of viewers, and boosting their flagship news shows as fast as possible. However, opinion formers will judge the channel on how the likes of Peston's show are doing.

Having said all that, it's hard to see where there's a gap for another show which wouldn't hit ratings and/or clash with a BBC show that would inevitably win.

Should Phillip and Holly really have presented This Morning yesterday? They were drunk and still wearing the same clothes as the night before. It's all over today's tabloid newspapers!

You might get a surprised how many people have done that, also there changed their clothes.

As they weren't operating any heavy machinery, merely entertaining a mid-morning audience with light-hearted, banter based antics I don't see what the problem would be. I don't know what the tabloids had to say about it, because they're owned by a bunch of hypocritical billionaires who think they have a right to tell the rest of us how to behave so I don't go anywhere near them.

I expect that was the intention.

Also the new daytime promo came out the other day it seems, a behind the scenes of how it was created.

What do you think happened with Judge Rinder? Do you think they forgot about him when creating the promo, and got him to film a bit on his own later and added it in (as he is only seen on the ground and not with any of the other presenters in the balloon). He wasn't in the behind the scenes video at all and no one mentioned him.

I think Holly's inexperience really shone through at the start of today's This Morning. As predicted, the first part of the show was dedicated to Wogan, and she just sighed and shook her head in sympathy, while everyone else did the talking. Furthermore, there was a satellite link which had a delay, and rather than allow the delay to run its own course, she repeated the question, which is a big no no in those circumstances.

I suspect it went something like this:

ITV: Rob, we're making a promo for ITV Daytime, are you free on the x of y at z:30 PM for an hour or two please?
Rob (RR): No, I'm working/on holiday/doing something else. Sorry.
ITV: No problem, we'll figure something out. Oh I know, can we do a pick-up shot at some point when you're in front of a camera and we'll use that?
RR: Okay.
ITV: Cool. Details to follow.

I've seen that promo a few times now and I still can't work out who that is next to Eamon Holmes, Katie Price?

Yes, Eamonn is flirting with Katie and is told off by wife Ruth.
