Interesting new item for SNT this year
ITV Press Release posted:
The series features a brand new comedy whodunit Who Shot Simon Cowell?, which sees the TV talent show supremo gunned down at a birthday party, with a host of famous faces in the frame – including Louis Walsh, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, Caroline Flack, Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon, and even Ant and Dec themselves. In a plot masterminded by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, can detectives Kevin Whately and Emilia Fox crack the case and determine which of Cowell’s celebrity friends pulled the trigger? Expect more twists and turns than a Barbara Cartland novel as the mystery unravels…

So, Murder in Successville without the impressions?

Did anyone see the new car ad where A&D play "I'm a celeb get out of me ear" with an actor/car salesman and some unsuspecting car buyers? I know Ofcom have relaxed things a lot lately but it's the closest thing I've seen to dual-purpose advertising. And if it comes up as one of the prizes in Win the Ads... (half of which stuff I've never seen advertised on telly anyway)

I wonder if that particular brand of car ends up being the programmes sponsor?

It's almost as if they want to satisfy Simon Cowell.

The Family Guy to ITV2 deal starts on Monday 29th with the premiere of season 15 going out on Mondays at 9pm followed by Bordertown.

Has something changed in the deal as Family Guy episodes are also airing every night from season 1 in double bills around 10pm / 10.30pm on ITV2. I thought when first announced the deal was ITV would premiere new episodes but the BBC retained the old seasons ?

Nothing has been mentioned as the BBC stated after the deal and the BBC3 closure that the repeats would stay. However nothing has been said from the BBC of late, so unless the BBC have sold the rights early who knows? It's hard to imagine where the repeats for Family Guy would fit into the BBC1 or BBC2 schedule.

From ITV's point of view it's probably better to obtain the rights to the earlier series sooner than later.

The details of who had what was never explained other than the BBC retained repeat rights till 2017. Usually archive and new series are sold separately so I suspect ITV picked up the archive series with the newest series whilst the BBC retain repeat rights to the latest series they have shown for the time being, similar to how when Sky pick up shows from the third series the original broadcaster continues to repeat the first couple of series for a few years.

Recent responses from BBC Three on Facebook seem to be suggesting ITV2 is going to be the only place to see Family Guy at all, as if there are going to be any airings on BBC Two, they're deadly quiet about it. I suspect the 2017 date may have been true at the time, but something's changed and I'm sure ITV2 never said anything about the older series at the time either, so it may well be ITV2 have emptied the piggy bank totally and moved the goalposts in the process.

It's probably like the recent deals for the rugby and F1 were the BBC have been quite happy to give up the rights early.

From a financial point of view a no-brainer to give up the rights to a show when you've axed the channel that show aired on, but even if it was just rerunning one episode a week of the last couple of series it's 20 minutes or so less per week of content aimed at a younger audience. Does seem quite clear the Sunday night block of shows on BBC2 they had last year is not coming back now BBC3 has closed.

I was kind of hopping Sunday don't stop moving would return as it would tick alot of boxes and give a prefect outlet for the BBC3 content. Lets be fair BBC really should be filling up BBC2 with repeats of Family guy if ITV2 or E4 can provide a home for it.
