Although I didn't see it according to NWT on Facebook they couldn't come on air due to technical difficulties.

I mentioned it just above. Very weird considering Roger's opt outs worked twice during the 1, as in coming up segments.

No lunchtime opt-out on BBC One this lunchtime for North West Today. We had the sustaining News Channel feed instead. Very strange because Roger did the opts at 1:00 and 1:15 to say what was coming up.

I know that, in theory, if this happens, the News Channel gallery are informed and they're supposed to do a clean opt out into the next junction. Do you know if this happened?

Not really, either something went wrong after the second headline or the thing at fault wasn't needed for them and they'd hoped it would be sorted by half past.

A week in is about right for a failure, it does seem with such things that the teething troubles go away for the launch, lead everyone into a false sense of complacency and then go wrong Laughing

Did anything happen similar for 'Midlands Today' in 2004?

Only thing that springs to mind is when the weather went out in the evening, the broadcast kept switching to LDN(as was!) for a couple of minutes!

No one in N6 was told, so I suspect it was quite messy going back to network!

Didn't know they were using the NWT studio for lives from Salford - is this what is supposed to happen?

There is a down-the-line position with a CSO screen and a live shot of the canal - but I've not yet seen it used in anger.

That is the bug. It's the opt / N24 contribution studio. It's where Judith Mortitz did a PTC yesterday for a story on the Six.

Okay - very similar/same backdrop including the NWT titles animations on the screens, so I assumed it must be like when Scotland use their main studio for lives - thanks for clearing that up.

That's deliberate so it doesn't look too odd when NWT use it for their Breakfast opts (as Breakfast will be sharing their main studio)

The live shot of the canal has just been on the News Channel - but the camera was bouncing all over the place, which might be why they used the NWT backdrop earlier?
