Is Annabel Tiffin the permanent female presenter now - or are they still to announce a full-time replacement for Ranvir?
Judging by the Facebook page, I think she's just assumed the main role. Best for the job IMO.
I totally agree.
I never got used to Ranvir with Gordon and then when Roger came along it was just pure dire. But Roger seems to have grown with the show since Annabel took over!
I can't understand it when Ranvir's departure was regarded as a great loss. I find Annabel to be far more watchable, much more professional and all round more pleasant (not arrogant like Ranvir at times) person.
Definitely, Annabel and Roger have really bonded well on the programme - Roger has improved immeasurably since his first few programmes. I think the programme is in great form at the moment.
Also worth mentioning that CNBC's Beccy Meehan is joining North West Tonight (she's from Lancashire!) to present weekends and report during the week. She's leaving CNBC at the end of the month.
It's worth noting that former CNBC presenter Beccy Meehan makes her debut as the new weekend presenter on North West Today/Tonight. She's moved to the BBC to this presenting role in addition to reporting during the week. Maybe she'll even crop up on an odd BBC Breakfast, given her national role on CNBC! I presume she's replacing Graham Liver, who often does late bulletins to then get up early to present Breakfast on BBC Radio Lancashire.
I'd be grateful if someone could capture in pictures/video if possible - I'm out of the region at the moment. Thanks!
Also, to your question chris, Jayne Barrett has become Jayne McCubbin! A google has uncovered this as the reason (from Facebook)!!

Ach, I got married ten years ago and never wanted to ditch Barrett. But three kids down the line I thought now was the time. It was just too weird when the 5 year old called me Jayne Barrett instead of mum!
Just read that Nigel Jay died suddenly yesterday. He can't have been that old. Terribly sad - he used to due breakfast and weekend bulletins brilliantly. He was on rotation with Julia Sharp when I was growing up and now they're both gone.
Like another poster I'd seen it on Gordon Burns' Twitter aswell, very sad news, what a brilliant presenter he was. I remember he came back to NWT a couple of years ago or so for some special reports about the waterways and he was living on a narrowboat at the time, rather enjoying his retired life by the looks of it.
Nigel was also often the chap who did the continuity when timeshfted late evening programmes were being sub-networked across several regions. Last happened (AFAIK) in 2004 when there was a regional opt slot across three or four regions and Manchester timeshifted BBC One by 45 minutes or so until joining News 24 at about 1am. Quite an operation for them in those pre-server days: they put everything on tape and covered incorrect trails with menus (not entirely in the right style!) voiced by Nigel.
North West Tonight reporters taking over the national news this evening - Nina Warhurst and Stuart Flinders both filing reports, neither of which in the north west area.

Is Stuart still with North West Tonight? He's been appearing around the country as a 'News Correspondent' on the BBC News Channel and weekend network news for the last few months.
