How was the previous moves from Dickinson Road & the other Manchester premises handled all those years ago?

I couldn't tell you the ins and outs about that move, but judging by some newly uploaded footage on TV Ark and YouTube that New Broadcasting House opened in 1976, one assumes all Network production from Dickinson Road moved there straight away. But for Regional programming it took until May 1981 until they switched to Oxford Road, apparently Studio B was only completed in 1981.

There really can't be much left at Oxford Road now aside Regional News.

I get the impression from some of unhban's uploads on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/unhban that while studio facilities for regional programmes remained at Piccadilly for some time, VT operations moved to NBH much sooner. There's a sequence on one of unhban's videos where a Telecine news piece is voiced at Piccadilly but recorded onto tape over at NBH.

Sadly no pictures as I was in a rush to get back to Media City but I did get this one of an old microphone in a display cabinet of very old radio equipment they had in the foyer.

And just in case you needed more confirmation of all that dirt...

Ahhhhh that brings back memories of when I used to travel up Oxford Road - the old "bonking worms" logo that is burnt on to the building Very Happy

They'll be upset to hear that - after all, they're only moving to please you. That's literally the only reason. In 'annoying' you, they've surely failed in their objectives.

The other night im sure it was said on NWT that the team would be in Salford on Friday for children in need, could this be when they move to the new studio? Or a run upto a move on Monday?

I think I can help a little.
From what I understand by listening to Graham Liver's radio show, on Wednesday I think, when he had Heather Stott doing the weather. Assuming information is correct November 21st-25th is the last week in 'New'* Broadcasting House so that would make November 28th the first from Quay House.
If anybody can back me up as I thought I was losing it, it would be appreciated thanks.

*Note the irony in the name of the building at the present moment.

Thanks for the info, it does sound about right. They did say they where moving in November. Newsround starts broadcasting for Salford this Monday, so they could be leaving NWT until next week, not making too much work for 1 day

EDIT

Rodger has just said NWT move to salford 'next' Monday,

They are moving a week on Monday. Roger said this on the CIN regional updates.

NWT are doing a series of reports this week on New Broadcasting House. The inference on the lunchtime bulletin was that they have already moved to Salford, altough the programme still came from Studio B at NBH.

Perhaps they're saving the big launch for the main 6:30 programme?
