I've noticed that BBCWN's Globel with Jon Sopel uses the 2 adjoining studios, the one on the left being the one Mishal uses for Impact, the one to the right used by George for GMT. I've always thought both of them were the same studio until I did further scrutiny. Also noticed Jon Sopel likes to walk between the 2 studios, I wonder why does he need 2 studios. : Shocked The left studio has curved display panel at the background that's continuously joined, while the one on the right has 3 separated displays in the background. The table for the right studio is also bigger, and I suppose both studios' tables are height adjustable and have had their heights adjusted at various times throughout the programs. Right Studio seems larger than it's left.

Does anyone know what names are those studios? I only know studio C is the one used by the generic BBCWN, with the London skyline behind, and there's another studio that's the twin of Studio C used by BBCN, located on the groundfloor of the newsroom with a view of the staff's office.

It's a single studio. Two sets in one studio. It's named as Studio B, as you rightly say, used by Global, Impact and GMT. The "twin" of Studio C you are referring to is Studio E.

I'm sure they're called B1 and B2 though, even though they're technically the same studio. I assume that's just to differentiate what section the programme is to come from.

We should define 'afternoons' as between 1200 and 1830 British time, as to various World News views viewers Afternoon occurs at different times.

I guess we, viewers from the Southeast Asia & Pacific, are lucky... because it is our Primetime programming. Very Happy

Global uses both sets of Studio B, while GMT use mostly the newsdesk part though they have used the Impact set recently... I guess Impact is strictly on the set with the coffee-table desk.

Was there different names for the two sides of N9? On side was the 'Newsroom' set while the other was the 'World News Today' side?

The small pres area formerly used by N24 sports was 'The Pod'
HO
House
Also worth noting, in many ways it's one set with two distinct sides. If you consider how it's used on Newsnight, for example, in any other circumstance you'd call it "a set" with a news area and a "soft" sofa/chairs area. Equally when WN were in N8 and used different parts of the "studio" [albeit in a more limited way than in Studio B], you wouldn't have said Newsday/Impact's Barco cube-based presentation used a different set to mid morning [UK] news updates in "the pod", or GMT's main desk position. You'd say it was one set in one studio with different presentation options.

/Rant because I've just had to cook for 8 family members and then remember I don't much like family members.

That's N8 you're thinking of, I'm talking about N9 which, despite being quite small, had two sides to it, one for regular world news bulletins

and directly opposite, but in the same studio you had this big screen and desk used for World News Today

My question is, if the two halves of BHB are called B1 and B2, did these two halves of N9 have separate names?

Okay, so now I know it's Studio B, B1 and B2 more specifically. Smile Studio E is the twin used by BBCN. Hmm, any idea if there's Studio A or D, and what programme uses it?

By the way, where are studio B and C located in the broadcasting house? I only know E is the one on the ground floor which is very easily viewed when the camera pans downwards in the broadcasting house.
