As much as I dislike Gotham, I think it looked alot better. This new font does not suit the 5 at all, but of course they may be changing that as well.
I would much rather they dropped the word Channel from the logo - Channel 4 manages with just a 4.

Agree about the first very of its time. Although I think out of the 4 I think the 2008 - 2011 was the one which was replaced far too soon.
I'm not sure - the original look is very of its time, even though it still looks good. I think the short lived 2002 idents (before the 'five' change) have aged the best and were used for a criminally short amount of time before being ditched.

I notice that in that "go back in time" advert on Channel 5 that they are using an old background tune the one that I can only explain as going "dum... dum... FIVE... dum... dum..." have no idea if that is giving any clarification but that is how it goes haha.
It seems weird their using that one as yet again I mention that they are heavy on pushing that the channel is called and saw on screen as Channel 5. I imagine some will say it could be to fit in with the "go back in time" but they could of used something from 1997. Actually now I think about it I doubt any one will say that.

Yeah it really was I honestly would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to see how Desmond could have gone "Yes let's get rid this great branding and replace it with this one [shows picture of bland 5 logo]"

They've used that music a few times since the current branding was introduced, normally for the kind of slide used tonight or one of their rare cross channel promotions.
