I wonder if that ad break transition would fall foul of Ofcom's regulations of clearly separating the adverts from the programme?

Its like they've gone for a 'rolling news update' type presentation without the rolling news. A tad jarring.

The actual news programme starts tomorrow so we will see how that turns out. With the launch being delayed a few times it feels almost like they are still nowhere near ready to go on air but have had to just go with what they've got. It certainly doesn't match up to the previous attempts at local television there have been in this part of the world.

Is That's Solent going for an audience who remembers Southern Television? Seems as dated as them with that launch show, which has to go as the most low key launch to date. However the set appears large and the presenter is solid. I suspect Esther Rantzen's backing has ensured some older presenters will feature.

The music show with it's bad CSO backdrop is probably more what viewers will come to expect from this channel.

EDIT: Chrissie Pollard is ex TVS.

Not impressed with "MadeIn" efforts. That "set" in Leeds is shocking. Eeek!

BBC South Today package about That's Solent.

Apparently the sound was leading the vision by about a second last night on Solent TV !! (as seen on DTT from Rowridge)

That's Solent. They have a weird transition into ad breaks, they don't seem to have any idents etc.

Yuk, PAL footprint very evident on the shirt of the newspaper editor guest. And yes, Chrissie Pollard, ex TVS, but better known in the area (by people of my age !) as Radio Victory's mid morning presenter in the 70s.

I know I've always derided local TV as being utterly terrible, but none of these channels are really proving me wrong are they. Did Solent manage to buy a TV studio and camera from the 1980s? Why are all the stations using the absolute worst green screen when there are vloggers on youtube making a better job of it in their bedrooms? How utterly embarrassing the lot of it.

I don't think Latest TV where I live is that horrendous!

Given the time of year they've launched I think it would have been more appropriate to call it That's Sochristmas rather than That's Solent.

I'm hilarious.

That's SoLame might be more appropriate. Smile
